[Blind-Computing] How to use python with JAWS

2010-01-06 Thread Andrés felipe Pulgarín
Hello all.
I am now studying and starting to write programs in python. I feel
that it is my favorite programming language, more than basic I think.
but I am feeling really lost when I try to use Idle and all these
things. to write some code in python, I have to use the command line
interpreter, which seems to be accessible, but the problem's that I
cannot save the code with the extension .py
if I use Idle, the menus are accesssible but if I write a sintax, I
don't know what is the result again. I cannot know where I'm making an
error, etc.
So, can you tell me please what is the most accessible thing to write
in python? and, in the lessons that I'm studying, they tel me to use a
text editor to write code. in this case I use vim and edSharp, but I
don't know what is this for. can you tell me please how to start with
python?
Thanks, Andres

Hey Folks. I have a problem with OBI, the Daisy producer tool from Daisy trac.
I can't import an HTML file to make a project, and I need this with
urgency because I'm gonna make a DAISY book for distribution. I
suppose that it is an error in the HTML file, but I don't understand
what it is. I get an error dialog, saying that the project cannot be
create, and then the cause of the problem, but I don't know where is
the problem.
Please help me, I'll be very thanked.

Re: [Blind-Computing] About the talking clock!

2009-06-28 Thread Andrés felipe Pulgarín
Hi folks.
I find this program very interesting.
now, my question is, the clock can be used with sapi4 and sapi 5
voices? or only with sapi5 voices.
if I have sapi4 voices installed in my machine, but I don't have sapi5
voices, the talking clock will only detect the microsoft Sam voice?
(of course in my case, because I use Windows XP)
Best wishes, Andres from Colombia in south america

Okay, first set up the voices interface. Go to the start menu and hit
Enter on Talking Desktop Clock options. Then bring up the View menu and
select Voices. Now you will be on the Voices interface. You select the
different voices by arroing upand down the list of voices, which may
 vary
depending on your operating system and which synthesizers are installed
on your computer. It's possible you have only three voices to choose
from. In any case, when you find the voice you want to use, hit Enter on
it to select it. Tab to the three time interval boxes and check or
uncheck them as desired. Next, tab to Starting At. It sounds like the
list is empty, but if you press Insert-numpad 5, you will hear the
contents of each box. The first box is the hours, the second box the
minutes, and the third is AM or PM. Use the up and down arrow keys to
change the values in each box . JAWS will not speak as you up and down
through the list items, so press Insert-Numpad 5 after each press of the
arrow keys to verify the value you have selected. Do the same for the
Ending At boxes. Once you have set the Voice options, bring up the View
menu again and select Chimes. On the Chimes interface, use the left and
right arrow keys and up and down arrow keys to move around the list of
chime sounds. There are 19 sounds to choose from, and when you find one
you like, hit Enter on it to select it. Set the Starting and Ending
 times
as you did on the Voices interface. Note that the Starting and Ending
times are in 12 hour format, not 24 hour format. There is no date
adjustment to deal with. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Re: [Blind-Computing] All those wonderful social sites

2009-05-10 Thread Andrés felipe Pulgarín
Hello.
Now the captchas are not a problem for us. the best tool that is
helping us to solve this problem, is called Web visum. I know that
many of those who are in this list, are users of this great tool.
this add-on for firefox is helping many blind persons around the
world, and I say that the creator of Web visum is now living in the
paradise. I mean that this person who I don't know his or her name,
is making an excelent thing for the blind comunitty.
now we don't have to suffer if we want to register in a forum, a
social network, a site to upload torrents etc. if the site requires
captcha, then we can sighn up without the help of human eyes.
I'm writing these words because someone start talking about the
problem with the captchas, so I just want to make this parenthesis.

[Blind-Computing] Question about Firefox

2009-01-31 Thread Andrés felipe Pulgarín
Hi Folks. In the last week, I was making this question in a spanish
mailing list, but I don't get any answer, so I go to ask here if
anyone can help me.
How can I have Firefox runing in different languages? I worck with
the last version of Firefox in spanish, but I want to install the
version in english too. I download the english version of Firefox in
Mozila.com, but when I install it, I cannot toggle to the spanish
version again. all I want is to have the firefox in both english and
spanish, without having to make any uninstallation. there is an easy
way that allows me to toggle between the english and spanish versions
of Firefox? Thanks, Andrew.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Web IE

2009-01-25 Thread Andrés felipe Pulgarín
Hello. Are you talking about the Webbie web brouser? if this is true,
then you can get the Webbie and accessible programs at:
http://www.webbie.org.uk
I get the new version, and I only can say, my friend Alasdair its
making it very good! now in the accessible programs, there is a PDF
reader, a clock, the IE Apearance tool, and the older tools but with
more things, I believe. But I thinck that the best person who can
talk about it is alasdair.
Good version!
Greetings, Andres

2009-01-14 Thread Andrés felipe Pulgarín
Hello, I have a site to recommend, that allow us to convert not only
text files, such as PDF or word files. we can convert Videos from the
web or from your PC into MP3 or Wave.
I am talking about Zamzar. the URL of the Website is http://www.zamzar.com
Just follow te steps. you must Upload the PDF file, then select the
file to convert, (in this case you have to convert it into a Word
document) Wayt some seconds or minutes, and the file should be done!.
