[Blind-Computing] resolved/Re: Problem with webvism

2011-06-26 Thread Norma A. Boge

Hi Bharat,

I am using the current version of Webvism. I did as you did and
still nothing. I had a sighted person look at the page and he said
there was something obscuring the CAPTCHA image when viewing the page
with Firefox. So he couldn't even solve the CAPTCHA in Firefox, we
had to bring the page up in I.E. and he read the CAPTCHA to
me. Anyway, I'm glad I got it taken care of, and thanks for your input.

Norma

When you started firefox did it initially tell you, you were
connected to webvisum?

If not, go to tools menu, arrow down to and hit enter on add ons
menu item and make sure webvisum is enabled, etc.

Then, on that page, I invoked context menu on something like:

Went down to and hit enter on solve captcha, and then waited around
30 seconds before it told me that the result had been copied to clipboard.

Anna,
Are you trying to find them because you want to look at them or do
you just want to delete them. If you only want to delete them, check
the delete temporary files button and the program will do it for you.
It knows where to find them.

Re: [Blind-Computing] makeing a compilation cd

2011-01-17 Thread Norma A. Boge
I think I can help here. CDex is used mostly for ripping CDs; i.e.
taking files from a CD and putting them on a computer. There is a
setting in CDex where one can have CDex automatically select all
files when a CD is inserted. So, if you want to take tracks from
several CDs to make a compilation disk, you'll either have to change
that CDex setting or keep in mind that you'll have to

unselect tracks you don't want to rip.
The send to option one sees after hitting the Applications Key will
not show up if you are trying it while in a track list in
CDex. You would need to be in a folder, such
as My Music, for the send to option to appear.

Sorry for the long post, HTH...

hello there;

another way to create the cd is;

1, navigate to your music folder.

2, now start selecting files,
most likely it will be selecting non contiguous files, so,
hold down the ctrl-key,
and start down arrowing, pressing spacebar on items you wish to
have selected for the cd.

once you have reach 16 or 17 files,

3, press applications key,
up arrow until you hear send-to sub-menu,
either enter or right arrow to open.

now, up arrow and enter on the DVD/CDrw drive, and press enter.
after a few minutes you should hear,
you have files waiting to be burned click this balloon.
just alt+f4.
now go to my computer,
and enter on the drive, you will see all the files their.
now, you can press applications key, and press the letter "t".

the rest of the instructions do apply.

 Hello Yvonne,

These are instructions I use with Windows Media Player 10. If
you have 10

on
your computer then this should work. It looks like a lot to do, but it
 really isn't.

 Good luck ...

 1. select tracks that you want to make into an audio cd, and
copy them all

 into
 an empty folder.

 2. Press control A to select all the files in that folder, and then
 control C to copy them.

 3. Put a CDR disk in the drive. If your computer is
configured to show a
dialogue box after a few moments prompting you to choose an
action, tab to

the cancel button and press the spacebar; or arrow down to "Take No
Action"
 and press enter.

 4. Go to My Computer; press enter on your cd burner. Once the burner
opens,
JAWS will say, list view, zero items. Paste your files here
with control

V.
(Give it time to copy the files into the burner list)

 5. You can now arrow up and down through the files to make
sure they are

in
the order you want them to burn. If not, you can delete the
file that is

out
of order by arrowing to that file and pressing your delete key. Then go
back
to the original file you copied the files from, select the
file you'd like
to put back into the CD burner where you want it. Copy that
track and then
paste it where you want it in the list. (There is a way to
move the files

 around in the "burn" list,

[Blind-Computing] Optimal netbook power settings

2010-12-28 Thread Norma A. Boge

Hey everybody,

I'm using XP SP3 on my Asus netbook and I'm unclear about which power
settings will avail me of the maximum battery life between charges.
Currently, I'm getting only about 45 minutes with the following max
battery settings:

Power Options Properties
Power Schemes Alarms Power Meter Advanced Hibernate
Select the power scheme with the most appropriate settings for
this computer. Note that changing the settings below will modify
the selected scheme.
Power schemes
Always On
Save As... Delete
Settings for Always On power scheme
When computer is: Running on Plugged in batteries
Turn off monitor: After 20 mins After 15 mins
Turn off hard disks: Never After 30 mins
System standby: Never Never

Normal usage for this netbook is Internet browsing, checking e-mail
and e-book reading, with occasional audio streaming from the web.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Hi
I was wondering if there is any software that can play
the digital books from the National Library Service (NLS)?
It seems like the only thing I can find to play the books is
a $350 portable player. I would be just as happy if I could
play them on my computer.

[Blind-Computing] Password Agent and associated issues

2010-01-27 Thread Norma A. Boge

Hi group,

I installed Password Agent a week or so ago and decided to uninstall
it because I didn't like the functionality. I now believe that the
program has messed with my entire system because I am unable to
access sites where I must enter a password. All I set up with
Password Agent was the Master Password, I gave it no other information.

Is anyone familiar with Password Agent? Does simply installing the
free version eliminate all my passwords? I know this sounds crazy,
but I'm at a loss here as to where to go with this, short of
contacting every admin on every site I need to get into that has
password access.

Thanks everybody...
Norma

Hi Arianna,

I installed Win Trans a week or so ago and tried the program once and
got about the same result you did. I was attempting to translate a

I guess I don't know what we should do, except maybe to uninstall and
do a reinstall and see if that helps.

Hi Don,

Below are the steps that I typed up for someone who had never used Email
Stripper so, they are a little long winded. Email Stripper has a Hot Key
built
in so, it can be accessed quickly. The Hot Key is control, alt, + E.

1. Open the Email and press control + F to forward it.

2. Enter to whom you are sending the Email to.

3. Tab to the subject line and press the home/7 key to take the cursor to
the beginning of the line

4. Press the delete key to remove any FW: stuff that is in front of the
message title.

5. Tab to the edit field.

6. Press the control + A keys to select the whole message. Now , press
control + C to copy the whole message to the clipboard.

7. Open the Email Stripper program.

8. Tab 1 time, Jaws will say "paste". Press the space bar to paste the
message into the Email Stripper program.

9. Shift tab 1 time, Jaws will say "strip it". Press the space bar to strip

the Email of the computer language crap.

10. Shift tab 1 time, Jaws will say "edit".

11. Press control +home/7 keys to take the cursor to the top of the page.

12. Arrow down to the first line of the message and arro up once to give
yourself some space if possible.

13. Press the home/7 key to take the cursor to the beginning of the line.

14. Press the control + home/7 keys to select from the cursor to the top of
the page and press the delete key to clean the top of the message.

15. Press the control + end/1 keys to take the cursor to the bottom of the
page.

16. Arrow up to the last line of the message and arro down once or twice to
give yourself a little room.

17. Press the home/7 key to take the cursor to the beginning of the line.

18. Press control, shift, + end/1 keys to select the text from there to the
bottom of the page and press the delete key to remove the crap at the bottom
of the message.

19. You can proofread the message if you like to make sure it is the way you

want it.

20. Shift tab and Jaws will say "copy". Press space bar to copy the
message.

21. Press Alt + F4 to close the Email Stripper program after you have copied

the message.

22. You should be back to your original message. Now press control + A to
select everything here and press delete to erase that message because you
are
going to put a new message in here.

23. Press the control + V keys to paste the message you had cleaned up
earlier using the Email Stripper program.

24. Now you can send as usual.

I know this sounds like a lot of steps but, after you get the hang of it, it

is really simple. Trust me. People will totally appreciate the fact that
you are sending them clean Emails.

Using this program will not disturb any clickable links that may be in the
message. Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike
