Hi,

To select from multiple accounts in Outlook, hit the Alt N key. You will
then get a dialog box where you can then select the account you want to send
from.

I hope this helps,
Ryan

Hello there;

so are you asking,
is there a keystroke to choose which outgoing account you
want to use?
if so, when you create new message,
shift+tab once, you should see your 2 accounts,
just arrow to the one which you want to send message from,
now continue with creating your message.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Java Access Bridge

2009-04-26 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
Hi,

I think the error you are getting is because the Java Access Bridge cannot
find the Java run time environment. This means you do not have a version of
Java installed on your computer. This means you will have to go to the Java
web site and install the latest Java version. You can get the Java run time
environment at the following address:

http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp

Once you have installed the Java run time environment, uninstall and
reinstall the Java Access Bridge. This will hopefully get things working for
you.

As a side note, I have not found Open Office to be very accessible. It is
difficult to use for someone who must use a screen reader.

Good luck,
Ryan

Dear List

Can anybody help with this query.

I am considering a Project where I try and make available training in free
screen reading / office software for a local low vision forum. I need to
test this out for feasibility. I am going to use NVDA and Open Office.

The stumbling block I have is that I need to install the Java Access Bridge
. I have download the zip file from Sum systems and run the installer.exe
file which is found in the Installer directory of the extracted folder The
notes accompanying the files are a model of how not to set up user friendly
guidance..

The error message I receive when I run this installer.exe is "something like
error - no VM found". Does anybody know what is going on here? Also in the
extracted folder are a couple of dll files. Can I simply copy them somewhere
for this to all work? Is there a simpler access bridge installer which I can
download and use? I have virtualised the access bridge folder below if that
is any help for anybody..

Re: [Blind-Computing] Problems Highlighting, Copying and Pasting Text

2009-02-16 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
This problem is easily corrected. With Jaws 9 and 10, when you copy
something from the web, the default is that all formatting from the original
web page is retained. Depending on what you paste the selected text into,
this may cause a problem. To change this, you need to open the Jaws
verbosity options tree view while in your web browser and change the select
and copy option. To accomplish this, do the following:

1. Open your web browser.

2. Press the Jaws key plus V to open the new tree view for Jaws options.

3. Press the down arrow key to find the option for select and copy. This is
found under the virtual cursor options. You should have to press the down
arrow key three or four times to find this option.

4. When you find the select and copy option, you can press the tab key to
move to the help window. Use the say all command to read the help
information for the select and copy option.

5. Use the shift tab key to move back to the tree view. Press the space bar
to change the options for the select and copy option. To make the option
work the way it did in earlier versions of Jaws where no special formatting
from the web page is copied, select the "from virtual cursor" option.

6. Close the Jaws verbosity options window.

This change is permanent and remains in effect even if you shutdown Jaws or
your computer.

The full content option is the default in Jaws 9 and 10 - this is what
retains all formatting when copying text from a web page.

I hope this helps,
Ryan

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Problems Highlighting, Copying and Pasting Text

Hi Folks,

Like that other person who was having trouble, quite often, in fact, this
happens all the time, when I go to copy text from a web page into a
document, notepad, WordPad or e-mail, I get some kind of code instead of the
text I've highlighted, copied and pasted.

This is getting fairly troublesome, as I often do this type of copying and
pasting to help friends with problems they may have, and where I find a
relevant bit of text on the net that can help them.

I'm using Jaws 10, latest build, Windows XP, Word 2003 and Outlook Express
6.

As far as I know, all of my settings are configured properly with the
configuration manager under highlighting options, and so I'm at a loss to
understand why this is.

I also have a problem where I am composing an e-mail, and, when I press the
down arrow in combination with the shift key to select the text, the line
will select, however, half of the words seem to be selected, as opposed to
the word. I mean it's like that function, called smart highlighting or
something like that, is turned off.

I've also come across a time or two, where I want to highlight a few words
in an e-mail message, whether reading to copy to another message, or just
composing the message for copying and pasting to a spot further down in the
message, or what ever, where, instead of the whole word being selected only,
the entire word is selected, right along with half, or a few letters of the
next word.

Can anyone help me with this.

Sorry for the long message, but I wasn't sure if those two things below were
significant or not.

Thanks all.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Anti Virus

Hi Mark,

With the 2009 version of Norton Internet Security, are you able to use all
of the functions. Can you access the firewall functions and respond to any
pop up dialogs that may come up?

Are you able to run a full system scan using the PC cursor or Jaws cursor?
Are you able to read the screens that show the status of your system?

Finally, were you able to install NIS 2009 without sighted assistance or
does the install require sighted help?

Any information you could provide would be great as I am interested in
upgrading to NIS 2009 as there are some nice improvements that I would like
to take advantage of. I found that the 2007 and 2008 versions of Norton
Internet Security were not very accessible.

Hi
I just upgraded to Norton Internet Security. I Found
that as long as I am willing to use the JAWS cursor and the JAWS Left mouse
click I do wonderful. I am happy to be back with Norton's. I tried AVG for
thirty days and it did good but to me Norton's is worth the little extra
work. The 2009 version is much easier to use than the 2008.

God bless,

Hi. Here's my latest issue. When I copy and paste from a Web Paige to MS
word 2007, it seems to copy more than just the text. I mean it copies all
the attributes including if it's in tables and columns which I can't figure
out how to remove. I didn't have this happen in Word 2003 (that I could
tell, at least).

I suppose that what I'm getting at is can I copy and paste from the web into
Word 2007 and not carry over different fonts, if it's a link, cells and
tables, etc? I apologize for my lack of clarity. I really don't understand
why Word 2007 is different in this regard compared to 2003. I just want to
be able to copy text and then manipulate it as necessary afterwards. As it
is now, it's almost impossible for me to edit what I copy to Word for some
reason. Using vista here. Thanks.

Hi Lenny,

If the Zone Alarm update does not correct the problem, you will have to
uninstall the security update from Microsoft that caused the problem. It is
the security update that has to do with a flaw with DNS. If you need more

Re: [Blind-Computing] Cannot get Internet with laptop

2008-07-11 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
Hi,

By any chance, are you using Zone Alarm as your firewall on your laptop? If
you are, there is a problem with one of the Microsoft security updates that
was released this week that causes you not to be able to connect to the
internet if you have Zone Alarm. There is now a patch available from Zone
Alarm to correct this problem.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Cannot get Internet with laptop

Hi Everyone,

I cannot bring up the Internet with my laptop. I was doing just fine
until Wednesday and I am at a lost how to fix this problem. My son
originally set up the laptop with the router about 4 years ago and he
cannot find any information what he did.

I have a Dell laptop with NetGear wireless router. When I turn on the
computer, it said that I am connected to the router, but when I tried
to bring up IE7, it comes back not able to make the connection or
something like that.

Can anyone tell me what to do or send me step by step instructions on
how to establish connection with the router and eventually get on the
Internet?

The router is connected to my desktop and I am writing this E-mail from
here.

Any help will greatly be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Lennie

Re: [Blind-Computing] setting up outlook

2008-05-31 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
Hi,

If you want to setup Outlook for e-mail, go to the tools menu and select
e-mail accounts and press enter. This will put you in a dialog box with
options for adding new accounts or viewing or changing existing accounts.
Press the up or down arrow until you are on add account. Press the enter key
and follow the prompts to set up your account.

If you have additional questions, let me know.

Re: [Blind-Computing] sp 3

2008-04-29 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
Hi,

SP3 is supposed to be on the Windows Update site later today. Although the
majorgeeks site is a reputable site, your best bet is to get it from the
Microsoft site. That way, you know exactly what you are getting.

Also, if your system is running well with no problems, there should be no
rush to install SP3. Unlike SP2, there are no major enhancements in SP3.
Most of the update contains security fixes and patches that you probably
have installed if you have automatic updates turned on. For the average
user, there is not much new in SP3.

Hi,

If you go to the view menu and then the current view submenu, there should
be an option to group messages by conversation topic. Is this option
checked?

Subject: [Blind-Computing] outlook 2003, show in groups

Hi.

I'm trying to get messages to show in groups so that JAWS says expanded and
collapsed. I have the show in groups option checked under view, arrange by.
It won't do it. I find this feature handy if I see a thread I don't care to
view because I can hit delete on the entire thread and delete all the
messages at once. This is handy for high traffic lists. Has anyone
experienced this difficulty and figured out how to solve it? Thanks for any
assistance.
