Hi Dan,
There are two ways to read the combo box.
The way I use is to simply press enter and will then allow you to down
arrow through the choices or just type in

I hope this helps.

Tom
your choice if you prefer, followed by Enter.

For some strange reason I can't get jaws to read the choices in combo
boxes; as I arrow down through them, I know that they change but jaws will
not read them. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: [Blind-Computing] confused;

2007-12-11 Thread Thomas Lutes
I am told that when you burn a data CD, you have to close it in order to run
it on another computer and the same is true for audio or music CD's. I think
you can later open it again to add more data but you must close it the last
thing.
I hope I am right about this.'

 Why is it, then, that a data cd will not play in a conventional cd player;
 if I make a cd or shall I say an audio cd, it will play in my cd players;
however, the data cds that I make will only play on my computer and will
not play in my players; what's up with that?

[Blind-Computing] strange behavior in O.E. version 6

2007-11-28 Thread Thomas Lutes
Hi all,
I am using Outlook Express version 6 and using JAWS 8.0.
Recently when I open a message in the In Box, in reading the text of the
message, at the end of the first line, it says Use the reading keys to read
the text. It happens only on the first line and only when I open the message.
If I go back to read the first line again, it does not do this.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks Tom

Please tell me the definition of SAP.

Re: [Blind-Computing] External Hard Drives for Backups Re: Burning datato a disc

2007-10-28 Thread Thomas Lutes
Hi Margaret,
I have an external hard drive. It measures four inches wide, seven inches
deep and one and a half inch high. it sits nicely on top of my tower
computer with the AC power supply for it sitting beside it.Mine is actually
a Western Digital internal drive placed into a case that you can buy from
certain dealers and it contains the electronics to adapt the drive to a USB
interface. A friend ordered mine for me so I don't know the name of the
outfit where he got the case. But I can find out if you wanted to go that
route.
It would be much easier to simply buy an external drive already made up but
it might be a little costlier.

Hope this helps.

Tom

About how much space on top of the desk/floor would one of the Maxter
 or
other external hard drives for backups take up? Do they take up as much
 room as the computer itself?

Thanks,

 Margaret

 Marilyn Walker wrote:

I can't answer your question but would suggest that you add an external
backup hard drive such as a Maxter. Hope this isn't dumb advice but it is
what I have done. It backs up three times a week but you can set it to
 back
 up more often. Marilyn

Re: [Blind-Computing] drivers

2007-09-08 Thread Thomas Lutes
If this is a new U.S.B. external hard drive, the manufacturer most likely
did not make drivers for it, since it was intended for use on an XP or Vista
machine. Your only source for possible drivers would be on the Western
Digital home page if you have a computer on the internet or call them by
phone.

Good luck.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] drivers

 Hello,
I have a computer that is running Windows 98 on it. It is not on the
internet. I just plugged in a Westbend external hard drive into a u s b
port. It told me that I did not have the drivers to run this device. I
have met with this before with an older printer. Could someone tell me
how to go about locating drivers? I have attempted this before, with no
luck. I feel like I am chasing a rabbit. grin! The rabbit is winning.
heh heh heh! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
