Re: [Blind-Computing] copping programs to a external drive
The only stupid question is the unasked one. - Original Message - From: "Don Marang" To: Sent: Friday, August 13, 2010 1:37 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] copping programs to a external drive I am not sure I understand exactly what you are attempting to do in your situation. Are you wanting to make backups of essential CDs, such as Windows XP? If so, I think you want a utility that will make an ISO file copy of the CD. It will make an exact image of the CD into one container file. It will even capture the boot information if the disk is bootable. It will not directly let you look at individual files without a special archive style program. It will also not work with most copy protected CDs, such as games. An ISO file can be burnt back to a blank disk at any time or some programs can be used to mount the file just as if you inserted the disk. There are many utilities to work with ISO files. My favorite is called ISO Recorder. It provides simple wizard style dialogs to rip (copy from disk to file) and burn (copy from file to disk). It will also work with DVD data disks, which can contain 4.7 GB of storage, on Vista and Windows 7. I am trying to put all my programs that are on cd on my extneral drive. Do I need to use nero to do this or can I simplely copy all the folders that are on the cd to the drive renameing it with the program title? Someone said something about virtualizing the program first. thank you Heather For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [Blind-Computing] Still gathering info to save off to exturnal harddrive.
I hope this helps this is my first attempt at this. today is the first day of the rest of your life. Check your e-mail account settings On the Tools menu, click Accounts. Select the e-mail account, and then click Properties. On the Servers, Connection, and Advanced tabs, check the settings against those given to you by your Internet service provider (ISP). If your settings match the ISP information, contact your ISP to verify that you have the correct information and that the ISP servers are operating correctly. Also, make sure your ISP server supports PPP, SMTP, and POP3 or IMAP protocols. Did this fix the problem? Yes. [Blind-Computing] pearl reader
The Pearl Reader looks like a white cane when it is folded up. It is compact and portable. You just unfold it, and it is positioned like a letter C with squared off corners when in position. It plugs into the computer via USB, and uses Open Book that way. Because of the position of the sections of the "cane", one can place the document beneath the camera and tell Open Book to take a picture and read it. It has to use Open Book Version 9, which has not been released yet but will be soon, hopefully! It is about $2,200. by the time one buys the Pearl plus the Open Book application. Presently, Freedom Scientific is running a promotion where one can upgrade his present OpenBook for $150., and purchase the Pearl hardware for about $600. I think that promotion runs through July 15. It is made for portability Ernest Quick friends are for life mentors are forever. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
