Re: [Blind-Computing] Alva Braille Displays

2011-10-10 Thread Elaine

Hiya

sorry if this has already been replied to, just catching up on backed up
emails. lol.

the difference between normal alva to alva satalite is, the satalite are
able to take batteries so they can be more portable with laptops.

the normal alva displays are mains only making them primary use for desktops
or machines that aren't meant to be portable.

as to recommendations, it depends if you want one that can be portable,
usually to work with laptops etc.

I have an older satellite but I use it on my desktop as I don't have a
laptop.

I've never had any issues with it other than when I used it on a machine
that had an AMD processor. don't know why but it always had connection
issues. when I got my new computer I went with a Intel motherboard and its
ok now. weird. no one has ever confirmed that was the issue though so its a
personal solution not an official one. Maybe they have improved things now,
mine is over 5 years old.

I use the display on both XP and vista and use jaws as a screen reader.

hope this explains things.

hugs

Elaine

I had just decided to choose an Alva Braille display, 80 cell, and
discovered that there is also a "satellite" version.

Can anybody explain the difference? or even give a recommendation?

Hi,
Has anybody used the Alva Braille display with feature pack?
I saw this question on another group but never saw an answer.
I had heard good things about it, was I right?

Hi all, can anyone point me in the direction of where I can download a
driver for an Alva Satellite 570 Pro braille display? Idealy an XP
driver would be nice but a driver for another OS will be much
appreciated as well.
