Re: [Blind-Computing] Bad Program
I have come to this thread late so this may have already been said. As I understand it you are trying to delete a applet from the control Panel. Applets in the Control panel will normally be actually programs with a cpl extension. For example if you type access.cpl in the run dialogue box you will open up the Accessibility Wizard from the Control Panel. As you have been unable to properly remove the applet through an un-install I would try the following. Go to the Start Menu and select search. I have turned off the search assistant so this assumes that you have done the same. The search term you need to search for is *.cpl This should after a few minutes pull up all the files with a cpl control panel extension on your Pc. Search through the list of results and see if you can find a file corresponds to the applet you want to remove. I would not initially delete it but move it somewhere else, just in case you make a mistake and you want to put something back that is crucial. Perhaps you should try this out first and tell us how you get on. The program is E-Backup. The one showing in my Control Pad is version 1.42. I can't download that particular version off the internet. Only the one on the Blind-Computing web site which is an older version. I tried to install that version and it wouldn't let me. -Original Message- From: blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Negoslav Sabev Sent: Friday, May 08, 2009 10:11 AM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Bad Program I'm not sure that an old version can prevent form downloading the same or newer. If the program starts with windows, you can disable it using msconfig and try again. What is this program. Just curious. Well, the first thought is a virus, but I'm sure you've already ran scans? Have you tried having someone send you the file rather than downloading it yourself? [Blind-Computing] Bad Program
My situation is as follows. I was told to try and redownload a file so I can uninstall a program that shows up in my Control Panel. I found the exact program on the internet and it still won't let me redownload it when I try to install it. What could this possibly mean? It seems as if the one that shows up in my Control Panel is preventing it. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
