Hi Recently I tried to play music from a public radio website. Every time I click the play button nothing happens. I am using the latest version of Jaws and Vista. I was wondering if people could check out the following link and tell me how to access this site please? http://kexp.org/streamarchive/streamarchive.asp Thank you. Re: [Blind-Computing] Is this website accessible?
Hi Mark, This site seems very difficult,. I had no problems subscribing to their podcasts. They support a wide variety of readers. They also seem to provide a variety of live and archived streams, including MP3 and uncompressed. I was not able to get any of these streams to start. Apparently there are icons inside the Flash object for the different formats. Unfortunately, JAWS does not seem to be able to position the JAWS cursor within the Flash object. I could not find a "play" button. The closest thing I could find was a "LISTEN NOW" Flash button, which did nothing. Using system Access did no better. If you want to look through the archives, Internet Explorer 7 does not work well with the combo boxes to select program, host or time. Firefox 3.5.1 handled these controls normally. I still had the same problems playing the archive I selected that I had with the live stream. I would contact them to let them know that you are unable to select a format and start the stream. They seem to know about streaming, but I don't think their Flash objects have accessibility enabled. They need to modify their Flash objects. At least accessibility code needs to be enabled / added to these critical controls to start the stream.
