I must have too much time on my hands, because I try to keep a log of all
of the changes that I make to my computer. This is a throwback to my old
mainframe days.

As I mentioned, this problem started occurring for me during March, 2010.
I tried many things to resolve the problem, including updating from Jaws 9
to Jaws 10, with no success. On 9/1/2010, I removed Avast and installed
MSE. According to my notes, I also installed the latest FS video intercept
on that same day. I have not had the problem since then, but I don't know
if it was the Avast removal or the new video intercept which fixed the
problem.

So my point, try installing the latest video intercept from FS and see
what happens. I don't believe that it can hurt the situation.

I was contacted off list by a nice guy who tackled this with
FreedomScientific he told me he was advized:

1.
Turn off add ons.
2.
Change something in the start up settings, didn't really understand this
bit.

3.
Make sure that the current window was maximised.

None of them work, individually or in any or all combinations.

Stay calm moderator, this is hearsay:
he was then told to up date the drivers on his computer.

Again I ask is there anyway as a group we could take this problem back
to freedom scientific? so many people are suffering with this. Problem?

Re: [Blind-Computing] Jaws not reading in google, update

2011-03-08 Thread John M.

Dan,
Are you running the same version of Jaws on both computers? Did the problem
occur simultaneously on both systems? Do you normally use Firefox or IE? I
experienced the problem with both browsers.

It is strange that this problem only ever happened to me on the Google
search results page. That tells me that there is something in the HTML
coding on that page that is Tripping up Jaws with respect to the way it
interfaces with the browser.

At this point, I am just keeping my fingers crossed that this problem does
not reappear on my computer.

John,

Your system book keeping is impressive, and your data point is a good one.
However, I have never had avast on either of my computers, and on my
Windows 7 machine, the first JAWS installation was the latest build of
JAWS 11, so the video intercept is the latest version. and, I have the
latest version of MSE running on that box.

I just checked on my XP box, and the video intercept is up to date.

Sadly, your fix of removing avast and updating the video intercept is not
going to fix my problem since I don't have avast, and have the latest
video intercept.

As far as I am concerned, this is not a reasonable solution. Turning off
add-ones means a limited web experience. I expect I could solve many of
my computing issues if I don't use a computer. *GRIN*
