Re: [Blind-Computing] Thunderbird and sending to a group of people

2010-09-26 Thread Øyvind Lode

Hi

In Thunderbird you start typing and auto complete fills in as you type.
When the name you want is displayed you press ENTER.
Now start typing the second name and press ENTER when you are satisfied.
Repeat the steps for each recipient.

An alternative approach is to use the contact side bar when composing
the message.

CTRL+N to open a new message.
Press F9 to open the contacts side bar.
Shift-TAB until you land in your contacts list.
Use CTRL+Space to select non-contiguous names.
When you are done tab to the To button, tab again for CC and once more
for bcc and activate the one you want with the space bar.
You can also just press alt+A to add selected names to the To field,
alt+D for CC and alt+B for Bcc.

Press F9 if you want to close the contacts side bar or just leave it
there to use it the next time.

chris I have to respectfuly disagree with you.
I found thunderbird 3 to be horrible. I couldn't even send a message to
ask this group for help. It kept asking me to uncheck a box that says
use name and password for this server. Meaning my roadrunner server.

Plus it kept saying allot of garbage that i couldn't fix.
I feel like asking for help sometimes is like putting a burden on those
who really know how to make it work.

I thought it was a problem too, but I think what is happening is that
it's telling you it's using the autoselect feature when typing in an
email address. I think that's a choice in the context menu or
something. I had one computer that spoke that but the one I'm using
now doesn't. I've noticed that TBird works slightly differently from
one computer to the next.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Thunderbird Question

2008-12-21 Thread Parham Doustdar
Funny thing is, I can't read this information with insert+ctrl+1-0, do to
what, as you said, is Jaws getting the info from MSAA. So is there a way to
read this information bit by bit? Like... like what insert+ctrl+1-0 do? I
tried giving the control a class of list view, but that didn't work either,
that made it worse; jaws wouldn't read anything.

Thanks again for the help.

JAWS probably gathers all this from the program's MSAA information. The
JAWS cursor works directly with your video card, otherwise known as the
off screen model (OSM).

Hi Donald,
I tried that, too. Weird thing is, Jaws reads the thing like it's a list
view. It even says list view, and when I press insert+up arrow, it reads
all this information about the status of the email, tags, date received,
and so forth. Weird thing is, when I route jaws to PC, the information is
not there. Not the date, the status, or anything. It's just the name of
the person and the subject. I don't know if Jaws curser has a problem, or
Jaws gathers this information from I-Don't-Know-Where.

One last thought. Try have JAWS rely on MSAA for this application.
First try to set this in Configuration Manager for Thunderbird. Look in
the "Advanced..." settings. If this does not work, try adding the
following line to your Thunderbird JCF file under the [Options] area:

MSAAMode=2

I had to do this for a JAWS unfriendly application that I am writing
scripts for.

I had tried that one, I'm sorry to have left that experiment out of my

close (collapse) with left. :)

A long shot on the second question. Is the control actually structured
like a tree view and just not able to use the arrow keys to expand and
collapse? Or is it structured as a list view? If the control works as
a tree view to the sighted, try the following:

1. Go to an item in the tree view.

2. Press JAWS + 7 in the number row. This will bring up the Reassign
Window Class dialog with the class name of this control assigned by
the application developer filled in for you. If this is not a
standard class name, JAWS may not recognize this control and handle it
properly. . Do not change this value.

3. Press Tab once to the list of classes JAWS recognizes. Arrow down
or press T until you reach "TreeView" and press Enter.

See if this helps JAWS properly handle the tree. If not, press JAWS +

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Thunderbird Question

Hi there,
Has anyone tried Thunderbird? If yes, I have two questions:
1. Why does it read weird stuff when I try to read the messages sent
through Yahoo! groups, when replying. For example, I get this
message, I press ctrl+r, and then when I press down arrow, it either
jumps through the whole thing, or if I go letter by letter, the whole
thing is on one line.

2. Is there a way to set it put messages into a treeview based on
their subjects, something like what we do in Outlook with "Group
Messages With Conversation". I know the same thing exists in
Thunderbird, but Jaws doesn't say "collapsed" or "Expanded" like it
does in OE. Is there a way to fix that?

Thanks!

JAWS probably gathers all this from the program's MSAA information. The JAWS
cursor works directly with your video card, otherwise known as the off
screen model (OSM).

Hi Donald,
I tried that, too.

MSAAMode=2

I had to do this for a JAWS unfriendly application that I am writing
scripts for.

A long shot on the second question. Is the control actually structured
like a tree view and just not able to use the arrow keys to expand and
collapse? Or is it structured as a list view? If the control works as a
tree view to the sighted, try the following:

1. Go to an item in the tree view.

2. Press JAWS + 7 in the number row. This will bring up the Reassign
Window Class dialog with the class name of this control assigned by the
application developer filled in for you. If this is not a standard
