Re: [Blind-Computing] can't remove the Google tool bar

2009-11-16 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Rosemarie,
Give this a try:
In internet explorer, go to tools, and then manage add-ons.
Find the google toolbar in the list, and disable it, then try removing it
from add/remove programs.
It's been a long time since I've had to uninstall it, so I don't remember if
I had any particular problems.
Sometimes when you can't remove an item from add/remove programs, it is
because it is running, and must be shut down first.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Hi, Jim,

I just tried and I'm having the same problem. The stupid tool bar won't go
away. I even hit the left mouse button on the keyboard and nothing worked.
Am I stuck with it?

Subject: [Blind-Computing] can't remove the google tool bar

 Hi, everyone,

Earlier this evening I tried to remove the google tool bar through the
control panel but didn't have success. I went to the add and remove
programs and chose the google tool bar. Then I tabbed to the remove
 button
and hit the space bar on it. I couldn't get rid of it. What can I do to
 remove the tool bar?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

 Many thanks in advance.

Rosemarie, if memory serves, when I had this problem, it was installed
accidentally when I was on the adobe site upgrading adobe reader. Maybe I
had to get rid of it through that site. marilyn

Even if you can get it successfully removed, I have found that it gets
installed again and gets enabled, even if you are being diligent! I just
gave up and stopped attempting to remove it. I just keep it disabled by
making sure it is unchecked in the Toolbars submenu of the View menu.
At least this way it stays disabled. I guess that way Google can still
watch everything you do! paranoid

No, you could do a system restore, and it would go away. Do you know when
you got the tool bar? If so, restore your computer to the day before, and it
will go away. smile. Jim
