Re: [Blind-Computing] Annoying problem with gmail

2009-06-16 Thread Elaine

ah, ok then.

I've used gmail for years and don't often have issues with it.

occasionally though the server is down or something but that might happen a
couple times a year.

mind you, I dread the day should come when I couldn't use outlook express to
read mail. I find it so difficult and frustrating reading gmail from the
web page. not that I cant do it, it's just more convenient to read mail in
OE. *smiles*

Hi, Elaine

The problem isn't with my gmail account. It's with my verizon account.
That's why I switched everything to gmail. You could try sending me
the text file but I don't think it'll help for my verizon email
address. I think it's on their end--not mine.

if you go in to the accounts section, go to preferences on your email
account.

tab to the server tab.

tab over to where it says settings.

if I'm correct, this is a radio button, it should be set to the first
option, use same settings as my incoming server. or something like that.

then hit ok.

if yours is like mine, it will be set to the other radio button, this
then

has boxes for username and password.

since I've changed this setting I don't get the log in screen, it just
sends

emails as it used to do.

weird though, as I don't remember changing that setting.

any way, hope it helps solve your issue.

actually thinking about things, I'm sure I've got a text file here with
all

the gmail settings. would it help if I sent it to you?

I just got that same problem with my verizon account so what I'm doing

having to type in my password over and over again. It sounds more like

If you go to gmail.com and sign in to your gmail account, you will find a
link on the settings page labeled Forwarding and POP/IMAP. On that page,
look for a link that says "configuration instructions." There you will
find an explanation for setting up your gmail account with outlook,
Outlook express, Vista, or XP. It takes you step by step through the
process of setting up the outlook or outlook express account, so you can
check to see if all of your settings are correct for receiving gmail.
Maybe this will help??

hi Rogelio

looks like I've solved my gmail problem.

I went through all my settings and found one item. I'm not sure how this
item got changed but when I changed it all of a sudden I didn't get the log
on screen when sending mail.

if anyone wants to know what the solution was, I'd attempt to explain. I'm
not that good at it lol.

thanks to those who replied though.
