Re: [Blind-Computing] Qwitter client

2011-09-16 Thread Matthew and Edgar
I believe that is a setting you need to change in twitter itself. I know
that the latest version of Qwitter is buggy due to being a beta. It just
gets the info from twitter itself. That should be where the error lies.

Hi all listers,

i am using the latest version of qwitter 5 and i'm facing a problem.
each time i receive a new tweet, it says about 15 hours ago though it
was received just a minute ago. Instead, it should says something like
1 minute ago or 2 minutes ago ...

is there anyone know how to set it back correctly? Thanks in advance

Hi,

Programs that tell you of files you have to manually remove will usually
refer to the following situations:

(1) settings stored in INI files which you may need to use later; or
(2) Programs that create files which are useful to you. In other words,
the program would have created such files by your own action.

Now the nest question is how to remove such files.
Well, using a file manager such as 7zip file manager or even our native
Windows Explorer, navigate to Program Files (often C:\Program Files\,
find the folder where Quitter had been installed.
Highlight the folder, Then Press Shift+Delete to permanently wipe off the
folder from the face of the earth. Well, if you don't mind the recycle bin
size, just press delete and the folder will be sent back to the recycle
bin instead.

Next, you need to navigate to where programs often store their settings. I
am not sure which Windows OS you're using, but the folder on XP should be
C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\app data.
In this folder, you will find lots of folders referring to different
programs that store their settings there.

Find that of Quitter.
Now without opening the folder of Quitter, repeat the same operation you
did in Program Files: namely, press shift+delete to destroy the folder and
all its contents (the settings).
After this, you are clean: you're ready to install a fresh copy of
Quitter.

Actually Quitter is cool: so I wish you all the best. Any problem just
post with detail.
By the way, I made some assumptions like C:\program files for this is
the normal storage area of all installed programs unless you changed; if
you did so, just substitute my bigoted Program Files with your correct
path.
Another bigoted or assumption is the your user name just substitute that
phrase in angle brackets with your own username you are logged with.
Another issue you need to sort out is if you are on Windows 7, you need
not enter the C:\documents .. path, users have got a special folder in
the root.

Cheers,

Re: [Blind-Computing] Qwitter: How do I download more than 200 tweets

2010-07-14 Thread Ishe Chinyoka

Quitter is simple to use:
You can work with more than 200 twits at a time. However, the 200 threshold
refers to the number of polls the quitter client makes to the Twitter server
in an hour. You can alter this of course by opening the Configuration panel
which is highly accessible.

Personally I work with Lists so that the list is presented in a buffer of
its own: this helps reading so many twits and not scroll those 200 twits at
a time. This is advantageous in that each of these lists can hold 200 twits
of its own in a separate buffer from the Home buffer.

Hopes this is clear, if it's hieroglyphic I'm sorry. Just threw my own
thoughts on this.

Cheers,

Ishe

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Qwitter: How do I download more than 200 tweets

HI. I've been using McTwit for ages, but I'm switching over to Qwitter
now,

the newest version. There are some issues that I need help on, however.

Let's say my computer is turned off all day. I boot up and load Qwitter.

In configuration, the max of tweets Qwitter says I can grab is the latest
200, but what if I have more than 200 I hadn't read which is usually the
case? I've been told that I can adjust it via API calls or something so
that I can grab all of the tweets I'm behind on rather than only the
newest

200.

Another question I have is what if I've already grabbed a certain amount
of

new tweets, but I want to go back and grab further back, like another 100
more whether I've already read them or not? Can that be done?

To give an example, in McTwit I can tell it to grab as many tweets as I
want. And then if I want to grab all of them again and more, I adjust how
many tweets to grab and then change a setting to allow tweets I've
already

read to be redownloaded. So, I can have it grab the tweets all over again
but go further back to grab more of them.

I'm finding it difficult to comprehend that if someone is gone all day,
they
come home, boot up, and download all their tweets, that if they only get
the

newest 200 and that's it, that people are happy with that.

Maybe it's not an issue for people who always have their computer on and
Qwitter loaded, but surely there's a solution for us who don't do that.

I'm perusing the read me file, and it's answering most of my questions,
but

there are a few that it either doesn't address or I'm just missing it.

Thanks,

Hi,
Yes, for Qwitter to work with Twitter, you need a Twitter account.
Oh yeah, there's good readme on the Qwitter sight, and that should explain
everything.

Hi,
You will have to solve a CAPTCHA to get a Twitter account.
You can eather do it through the audio CAPTChA provided, use Solona at
www.solona.net,
or Web Visum and Firefox to solve it.
Web Visum is at
www.webvisum.com, and it's an add-on to FF.
