Re: [Blind-Computing] outlook 2010 and win 7

2011-11-02 Thread David
Hello Karen;

I'm not sure, but you may be interested in the following;
This program actually works.

http://www.nirsoft.net
In the following section, you can find utilities related to Microsoft
Outlook/Office:

NK2Edit
Every time that you type an email address or name in the message window of
MS-Outlook, it automatically offer you a list of users and email address
that
you can choose. This feature is known as 'AutoComplete' and Outlook
automatically build this emails list according to user activity and save it
into a
file with .NK2 extension.
In some circumstances, you may need to fix or modify the values appeared in
the AutoComplete list, or you may want to remove unwanted email addresses
and/or
to add new email addresses. MS-Outlook doesn't provide any ability to edit
this AutoComplete list, so this is where NK2Edit software can help you.

NK2Edit is a real NK2 editor that allows you to modify all fields in NK2
file, delete unwanted records, add new records, fix/recover corrupted files,
merge
2 or more NK2 files into a single NK2 file, and more...

I did run this program, and indeed, my auto complete does work.
It is a little tricky, however, if you wish, I could provide some simple
steps, which may help.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] outlook 2010 and win 7

i am tearing my hair out trying to get outlook to work. i copied my csv
addressbook from OE and imported it onto the new laptop with win 7 and O
2010. the contacts are there. I even managed to set up a distribution list
though that's not what o calls it. i have the navigation pane set to normal

and the reading and to do panes turned off. I have all the settings for my
isp in there and can send and receive email.

my current problem is trying to get o to autocomplete an email address. i
looked and the setting for finishing an address is checked. if i try doing
an address, though, it will not complete it no matter how many letters i
type. i suspect i'm missing some setting but have no idea what. I'd
appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Karen

2011-11-02 Thread Alan Robbins
Karen,
Are you positive all contacts are imported? Hit Ctrl 3 to
see if they are? If so, while in outlook, hit Alt F and then
arrow down to options. Hit enter and then Ctrl Tab to get to
the mail tab to adjust settings. Tab through and make sure
the box to auto complete the address when typing in the To,
CC, or Bcc field is checked. Mine was by default but I
unchecked as I found it annoying. I would rather just type
in part of the name, hit Ctrl K and select from the matches.
I'm using XP and Outlook 2010 but this issue has to do with
Outlook, not the operating system . If this doesn't work let
me know and there are a couple of other things you can check
out too.

Al
