Hi Marilyn, It sounds like you have a product from Creative Labs on your machine, such as a Soundblaster soundcard. HTH, Richard Q. Hi, experts. Does anyone know what Creative Diagnostics is and why it is on my computer? I wonder whether or not this is something that came bundled into xp. It is on my system tray. I'd like to uninstall it if it is just a worthless add on. marilyn For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

I think quick time has to do with Real player? I have the same sound card and do not have that showing in my system's tray. - Original Message - From: Marilyn Walker mlw1...@sbcglobal.net To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 3:03 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] what is creative diagnostics? Rick, you're a genius. Yes, I do have a Soundblaster sound car. Mystery solved. I'll leave it alone. There's another one on the computer called Quik Time and I have no idea what it is or where it came from. I don't use I Tunes which is what someone suggested may be the connection. marilyn For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Hi Marilyn, QuickTime is a player for Apple related media. Personally, I remove it from my systems, since I don't use I tunes or the like. HTH, Richard Q. Re: [Blind-Computing] what is creative diagnostics?
Rick, it appeared only in the system tray so to get rid of QuikTime I went to the context menu and hit exit. Now it is gone from the system tray, hooray. Thanks. marilyn For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [Blind-Computing] what is creative diagnostics?
If you want it completely gone from your computer, and you don't need it for a program such as ITunes, like someone else said, it's not a required application for Windows, and I think it takes up a good bit of space. You can uninstall it using add-remove programs in your control panel, as you would any other program. Hth! I'm scratching my head, wondering why quicktime wasn't in the control panel but was on the system tray anyway. Just another wierd computer happening of which I seem to have more than my share. marilyn For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
