I wonder if this descriptive format can ever work for a faster paced game like
resident evil series or god of war... I hope so cause I'm a huge fan of those
series and it'd be awesome to be able to get descriptions of all the various
characters and creatures in action.

Great idea, and I thoroughly enjoyed your first run. I'd subscribe to

Re: [blind-gamers] be my eyes for games?

2018-07-05 Thread johnny tai
To be fair. I think the "they" is a bit generalizing. It's a service upheld
by thousands of volunteers all over the world. There will definitely be ones
that are not patient or down right rude from time to time, but that is true
to any organization that relies chiefly on volunteers that aren't monitored
during calls.

On the topic of game menu reading. My suggestion is to try it. If one
volunteer says no, try another time, if another one says no, try one more
time, if you get no 3 times, then it's probably a no-go.
All it'll take is you run into a volunteer who's also a gamer, and it'd be
an instant yes.

Hi
SPOILER

While googling for info about the abandoned hut, I stumbled upon a thread
about Titus Adrianus. It seems that you're suppose to pick up the book
with Gwen in the party. Is that true, or can you trigger her response with
the book already in your inventory? One would assume that reading it also
would trigger it - pour game design otherwise. How are you suppose to know
that you should wait before picking up certain objects? After all,
standard RPG logic dictates, pick up everything that isn't nailed down in
case you might need it later. :-)

Re: [blind-gamers] Question on setting attributes on A Hero's Call.

2018-01-14 Thread johnny tai
Your health health goes up when you level- the higher your constitution, the
more you get.
To regain health after battle, you need healing potions, or a ranger, or a
cleric.

To get to the menu where you can sell things:
Open up the shop's menu from hitting enter at the shopkeeper.
Once you're in the shop's inventory, hit tab to go to your own inventory and
sell from there by hitting enter on the item you want to sell.

Re: [blind-gamers] Fishing

2018-01-12 Thread johnny tai
Here's my 2 cents on what my "ideal" ios fishing game would be like.
You'd start with so many bait worms. You either have to purchase more when
you run out, using game money, or wait for real time for them to regenerate-
you can also choose to donate to the game for more worms, or better baits-
pike fishing for example, requires frogs.

Fish you catch can be sold at game store for money. Depending on the type of
fish, you may get very little money or a lot- salmon would be great, same
with tuna, but those would most likely require heavier lines, sturdier rods
and better baits- all of which you need to save up game money to buy.

When you catch a fish, you can also tap on it to see a description- if need
be I can help provide those, I made the fishing function for the
cyberassault game so I have no shortage of descriptions.

The River Monsters documentary show wiki would be a great starting research
point too BTW.

Game would have various locations and molds- such as stream, river, deep
lake, swamp, ocean. You can also fish from the shore, or if with enough game
money, fish from a boat wich will yield larger catch with higher chances.

Game mechanics:

To bait the rod, simple pick the bait from your bait box and double tap on
it to get it on the hook.
Once you have purcahsed different gear, you can also select the rod and line
this way.

To cast: swing the phone up and back and then snap it forward. How far the
cast can be determined by the motion itself.

Once you cast the line out, you can gently move the phone to make the bait
drift in the water- good for catching predatory fish.

To reel: do the rottor motion with two fingers on screen.

When there's a fish on the line, you'll feel vibration on the phone- the
bigger the fish, the more vigorous the vibration.
When you feel the vibration, you need to give the phone a jerk to set the
hook, and then try to reel it in.

If you don't set the hook fast enough, you lose your bait and the fish's
gone.

As you reel, you may feel the vibration becoming more jerky as the fish
fights against you.

The fish will have a chance to escape during the setting of the hook, the
reeling in, depending on the gear used versus the type/size of fish- with a
bit of random factors in there just for curses and giggles.

Hey, Marty.

Here is a description of a hunting and fishing game that would be
similar to Cabela games.

1. The game needs to have challenges on it just like in real life.
2. The game needs to let you fish and hunt in all four seasons of the
year such as spring, summer, fall and winter.
3. The game needs to be able to have different areas such as woods,
mountains, lakes and rivers.
4. The game needs to let you pick between hunting and fishing or do both.
5. The game needs to have two modes such as free play where you can
hunt or fish when you want.
The other mode would be a career mode where you have to hunt and fish
for what the game says to go get.
6. There needs to be a store to be able to use game money to purchase
different gear for the different weather and areas.

[blind-gamers] a hero's call- weapon effectiveness?

2018-01-12 Thread johnny tai
SPOI
ler
maybe---

So since there's really no official guide, it's a bit hard to decide what's
the best way to get the most out of your weapons.
Would be nice if anyone can share some concrete facts about two-handed
weapons versus dual wielding, versus elemental weapons, etc etc.

My own experiments have thus far proven rather inconsistent resultwise.
At first, I thought wielding two weapons would yield greater chance of
landing attacks. That doesn't seem to be the case- though the second weapon
does seem to come into play randomly since my offhand poison dagger is
poisoning targets at times.

Then I experimented using blunt weapons on skeletal creatures, thinking
that'd by logic do more damage. So far that is not the case.

It would almost seem that if you dual wield, you miss more often, but to
that I'm not 100% certain if it's just bad luck or actual coded logic.

One thing that seems to work extremely well is to wield an elemental weapon-
despite they're usually lower in weapon rating- and then pack on as many
equipments that'd boost that particular damage type.
For example, my warrior with a blazing mace, weapon rating 68 (I think), and
wearing a pair of infernal rings, can output more damage than him wielding a
weapon rating 94 greatsword.

On that note, has anyone find any effective way to hit ethereal monsters
with melee weapons? I know there's bless weapon and charge weapon and such,
but the damage dealt is so low it's laughable.

I go down the trapdoor that the thief leads you to in the mines, enter
the goblin camp, murder the chieftain and pass through his tent. It is
that area immediately after that to which I refer. Perhaps I have the
wrong name of the area?

I go down the trapdoor that the thief leads you to in the mines, enter
the goblin camp, murder the chieftain and pass through his tent. It is
that area immediately after that to which I refer. Perhaps I have the
wrong name of the area?

Did the ring just...gone? Like, you don't see it on her anymore?
That's strange, cause at least for me, I did get it to work- sort of. Once
in combat, if she's wearing the ring, she gains an option called summon
ancestor, that spell will summon the ghost who gave her the ring and add him
as a party member in that battle. Once battle's over, he vanishes again and
has to be re-summoned next fight.
Personally I ahven't seen that to be worse it though. The ghost has very low
combat speed, so he barely ever does anything at high level, and that ring's
taking up the slot where a much more powerful ring could've been.

Currently I got Gwen outfitted with a pair of arcaster rings and a lightning
blade that combine to boost her chain lightning to ridiculous level lol.

I for one would totally love a fishing game. I love fishing in RL, and in Vegas
there's a slot machine that's built around the fishing theme where you actually
have to work the reel and rod to get a better chance of winning. Even someone
who hates gambling as myself had loads of fun playing on that particular
machine. So a audio fishing game would definitely be welcome.

I think you're a little too high level, lol. Basically, the enemies scale
with your characters, so once you can defeat one set, the game gives you
harder ones.

tem 10 or so in total, go to the captain and talk to him again.
Best,
  Miloš

Maybe I did the quests in the wrong order and messed myself up?
According to him, there's so many bandits on the great north road that it's
not safe to travel- thus hiring my party to "thin" their numbers.
I wandered up and down that road, across the river, back across the river,
for almost 2 hours...
Didn't see a single bandit, just lots of wyverns, alpha treekins and the
occasional dark wizard with dire wolves.

Okay, I thought to myself, maybe the bandits hiding out in the dewer? I
believe I saw them there before... So I went there, and for another hour,
still no bandit, just hydras and...more dark wizards and wolves.

What gives? They've gone extinct like the dinosaurs!

Hi,
It's taken me a lot longer than that and I'm still not done. I'm exploring
everything and doing as many side quests as I can.

1. So your first question is super subjective and can't really be answered.
It depends how you define replay value.

2. The game will take a day or so to complete. I think on average it takes
10 to 15 hours. It depends if you want to rush through or do side quests.

Hi all,

Before I go buying this game I have a couple questions:

1. has anybody actually completed this game yet and if so is there
replayability? Or would you ecentially be playing the exact same game over
again once completed.
2. how large is the game? I guess I'm a little fussy in that I don't like
games that you can complete in a couple hours only and that's it. I like a
game to have a lot to it and debth.

Many thanks all.

Just want to ask quickly. Liam mentioned the pelt quest's worthwhile doing.
I finished it but as far as I can see, didn't get any perk from it.
Am I missing something or, maybe because the response I gave was the most
snarky one that he didn't reward me?

Re: [blind-gamers] finding wolf dens and bandit camps

2018-01-05 Thread johnny tai
Personally these are two of the quests I personally find to be really on the
silly side of things. They don't add to the story in any meaningful way,
there's no real logical way to figure them out short of wandering around
endlessly till you fluke out.
I understand games use quests like these to "pad" the contents, but still,
they are generally rather frustrating.

Hi,

I'm on the laying down the law quest in a heros call. I can't find all
the camp sites. I got the one next to the lumber mill and the two near
the windy bluff. I also got the one across the bridge next to the fish
place. Which one am I missing? Does anyone know where the wolf dens are?
I don't see them anywhere.

Kenny
