Re: [BlindHandyMan] building up an engine

2006-11-01 Thread Art Rizzino
Hello Robert,
If there are Emissions standards for vehicles where you live, would it pass
with a carburetor and without the engine computer control?
If you don't plan on rebuilding the lower portion of the engine you might
get a bad surprise later from the bottom of the engine failing because of
the extra strain caused by the improved top of the engine.
Often the cylinders in a V style engine ware out of round. If you don't at
least hone them back to a round shape when you install new piston rings some
time the oil control ring or rings may act something like a Minnie oil pump
and bring or leave oil in the combustion chamber in stead of doing their job
keeping the oil out. So, you then might have a mosquito fogger by the blue
smoke produced. HaHa
You might be better off purchasing a engine rebuild kit in stead of buying
the parts separately.
Good luck with this project.

Trouble,
I agree with your statement of "> That black smoke you refer to on a diesel
is raw fuel not burned and means the person that worked on that engine can't
tune worth a crap!"
Also insufficient air supply will cause black smoke.

Well Mud, I'm not too sure about the togas in
Houston. Those Texans might get a little chilly
if that is all they can wear. I've heard it has
been all the way down into the 60's down there.

2006-11-01 Thread Dale Leavens
I need everything I have and probably a little more sometimes thank you very
much!

Actually Janet and I are hoping we can cary on everything we need so we can
avoid the luggage carousel and to simplify getting through customs and
immigration. I also hope they don't make us check stuff just because they
worry about our toothpaste exploding or what ever. I'll probably be getting
pretty smelly if they take away my deodorant.

2006-11-01 Thread Doreen Lundgren
See, guys can be either male or female to me. Guys are cool, men are jerks,
that's the difference. It's not implying that you're male, but you don't
mind getting your nails dirty and you don'thave a cow if you break one
either. Crap happens. You aren't afraid to get dirty and I highly doubt
that y ou just won't fix something because it might ruin your reputation.

[BlindHandyMan] File - ListInformation.txt

2006-11-01 Thread blindhandyman

List guidelines.

The topics that can be discussed on the Blind Handy Man list are as follows.

Here is a direct quote from the beginning of every show, "building repairing or
maintaining, all designed with the blind in mind". That can be your house,
car, or swimming pool ETC. No matter if it were how to do a job or what would
be the correct tool to use for the task in question. We have people on here of
all skill levels, from the beginner to those who build additions on their
houses. So never hesitate to ask what ever you might need to know because most
likely somebody on the list will be able to help you out. The only question
that can’t be answered is the one that is never asked.

This isn't really a gardening list although questions about lawn maintenance
such as mowing and that sort of thing are perfectly fine. Nor is it a
technical list relating to software questions, but repairing your computer's
hardware is certainly right on topic. If you have any doubt whether a given
post is on topic or not contact the moderator for approval. This is especially
recommended if it's a post that contains advertising unless another member has
previously requested the information. Also keep subject lines relevant to the
contents of your post. Lastly if you know a given subject is off topic, then
don't post it to the list.

This list is a great place to gather ideas and exchange information on anything
to do with being handy. So relax and enjoy.

2006-11-01 Thread Jennifer Jackson
I refuse to think of myself as one of the guys. *smile* I am a woman no
matter what sweaty traditionally masculine task I am doing. My grandmothers
brought me up to fix it myself when I could, and if a man did fix it for me
to thank him nicely. Seems fare enough to me. I don't want to change who
they are either.
