Hi that sound like the down pipe is blocked and it will progressively get
worse. You can try to un bloc it with a plunger, [that is forcing the obstacle
down the pipe as to create a free flow.] If you don't manage with a plunger you
will need to get someone in with a long rod that can open it professional.

  Hey Guys,

Ok, I still have not tried the solution for my shower problem. Well, actually
I tried and my two year old fount the cup of vinegar and shower parts about
thirty minutes into the soaking and promptly poured it out on the floor. So I
had a really clean floor. *smile* This did however prompt my husband to take
over the project and leave only the one shower head in. He seems to have
forgotten the reason we moved to this arrangement to begin with.

Anyway, today it is my toilet again. Of course my mother is here visiting
when this has to happen. *sigh* The toilet bowl fills up all the way to the top
when you flush it. It looks like it is going to overflow apparently. The
flushing sound just does not sound powerful enough either. I mean the actual
sound of it all going down, not just the sound that is triggered by moving the
lever and starting the water moving in the tank. Is this an adjustment problem,
or something bigger do you think?

  Jennifer

2009-02-28 Thread Lee A. Stone

ya know 2 years ago we had a plumber in and he was stuck. after
using a auger. toilet auger and pressure flushing it was no better.
and I had to pay for him and his useless helper. it was not until I had
the town water department here that they suggested I look at or check
out my roof vent. so sure enough part way up the ladder one of the
boys said.no way. there is wasps coming out of that pipe. so at night
time I went back up and with just one knee on the roof and someone
holding the later I forced a garden hose in the roof vent stack .
blasted the water a fw minutes at a time and then ran it wide open for a
half hour. Poof the toilet flushes much better. . what is odd, I think
is we have a roof vent for the sewer line as well as a lower one in
the front of the house which is a a short pipe running thru the
highest part of the solid concrete. we put a hose in there now too a
couple of times during the summer. Lee

Philip is right but it is much more urgent. Take care of it immediately.
If you cannot take care of it with a plunger then call a plumber or Roto
Rooter right away.

Re: [BlindHandyMan] toilet water level, and wasps

2009-02-28 Thread Betsy Whitney
Lee,
I wonder if you could discourage the wasps from coming back by
putting a coat of paint just inside that pipe. We were having trouble
with wasps at another house we lived in, and someone suggested that
we paint the spot where the nest had been after we knocked it down.
It worked. They never came back and they had been building there
every year for the three years we were there.

Thanks much Betsey for that suggestion. Perhaps I can persuade one
of my sons to to do that job this summer. I really do not want to get
onto this roof as it has a steep incline. I was braver at 25 than at
62. grins.Lee
