[BlindHandyMan] The floor is finished

2009-12-30 Thread Tom Vos
The floor is finished, with a couple of strategically placed pieces of
molding to cover a little extra nick in the vinyl. My wife is happy with
it, so all is well.
An interesting thing. This is an old house, and there was no flange for
hold down bolts for the toilet.
The old one was bolted directly to the floor. It had four holes for bolts,
so that worked fine.
But we replaced the toilet with a water saver, and it had only the two bolt
hold downs.
The waste line had just a lead flange coming up through the floor, and we
were not sure we could get a good enough bite into the floor to hold the
toilet down well.
A very helpful man at Home Depot showed us a metal ring that we attached to
the floor with lag screws, and the hold down bolts for the toilet hooked
under that.
We did have to cut a little bit of this metal ring off so that the toilet
could set on the floor.
And no leaks.
That's the second time in four years I had to do that floor, and I hope it's
the last.
Blessings,
Tom

RE: [BlindHandyMan] Cannister Vac?

So, with all those things wrong with it, you want another one just like it?
Hmmm.

Hi,

My Oreck Cannister vac is falling apart, and we really love the thing. The
shoulder strap has broken off, we had to replace a brush head, the cord
looks like it's about to fall off, the tubing to the hose is slowly breaking

away (it's a plastic material) and I think that's it!
Can the cord be replaced?
Or should I count my bvlessings that it's served us well for 7 years, chock
it up & consider a new one?

Re: [BlindHandyMan] help cleaning gas logs

2009-12-30 Thread Ron Yearns
When the flame went out, did the gas shut off automatically? If it didn't and
this is a totally manual light and shut off I would not sleep if gas can get
into the house. Is a button depressed or held in when lighting this or is it
done with a electric switch or even with a wireless remote control?

  Hi Ron,

It worked then some time in the night the flame went out.
Don't know about a pilot but after the cleaning
of the logs it is working again.

This email is another keeper as I also have gas
logs and this just might pull my but out of the
non-working flames in the future. Again, thanks.

Re: [BlindHandyMan] Router Table Features

2009-12-30 Thread john schwery
Keith, one reason I got the Freud table, at
Lowes, is because it folds for storage. I only
have a shed for a shop, and not much
space. Another issue is how easy will it be to
attach your router to the table? I ended up
having Freud drill the holes in the plate, which
they did for nothing, a new plate, too, as I
messed up the plate that came with the table.
