Re: [BlindHandyMan] Lubricating a light socket?

2007-03-13 Thread richie
I believe if you wanted to do that you would need to use conductive silicon
greece.
I know we used conductive greece on diodes in alternators and it might work for
lights but I'm not sure; it does conduct electricity as well as heat so it
sould work.

Can one lubricate a light socket?
I have a ceiling fan that uses these small round 40 watt bulbs. No matter
how easily I screw the bulbs in, half the time I have to break the bulb to
  get it out.
This is partially the design of the globes that the bulb goes in. You can't
get your fingers around the bulb to grasp it firmly, and of course you can't
remove the open end globe while the light is in tact.
Is there a lubricant that can be used in a light socket to make the
  unscrewing of the bulbs easier?

surely something that is non conductive, for if the heat makes it run, it
could leak out, thus you'll start higher in the socket and t tip and
  side are connected.
If the material runs out, it may break the glass for ya. We used to put
oil on the bulbs to make the place smell nice. We've replaced less bulbs
  since we stopped being hippies.
Can you grab the bulb with duck tape when removing?
