We saw Boric Acid in the dollar store just yesterday.
I'm sure there are cockroaches in Minnesota. I bet you'd have to go to
Antarctica to get rid of them but they would follow eventually.

I've heard if a neuclear attack took place, the cock roach would live through
it.

2007-07-01 Thread Linda
Boric acid really works well. We sprinkled it around the edges of the walls,
under the sink, etc. They can be a real problem in some cities. My husband
says you can find it in a dollar store. It might be called Roach Powder or
insect powder, but make sure the main ingredient is boric acid. When we lived
in Florida we rented a house for a while and the walls had wormwood from the
ship they got it from. We only lived there until we got our own house six
months later and the problem really diminished. In Florida one has to be very
careful about crumbs, dirty dishes, etc., as they will attract things. When we
lived in Chattanooga I heard a welcome speech for all the teachers' wives and
the speaker called Chattanooga roach city.

The subject says it all. Got a problem and want to know the best way to deal
with it. I caught 3 last night, 2 within a 10 minute period. Two of them
were in the kitchen, one in the sink, one on the floor. The third was in the
computer room. Caught him on the run. The first one didn't have a protective
covering on the back, not sure about the second, but the third one did have
it. I have a particularly nasty fate for them. The garbage disposal loves
them. Yumm, a quick snack. Someone has already been over to spray and they
say it has to be done twice before it is effective. In the meantime, I'd
like to cut into their party. The house is clean and no food scraps are
laying around to my knowledge. I thought about getting those motels and
scattering them throughout the place. I also thought about making a
home-made roach killer from Borax and powdered sugar. Any suggestions pro or
con is appreciated, along with any other suggestions you may have. I own the
house.

A soup can with some water in it is a good trap. Make them a gang plank so
they can get in. Once in, they can't get out. Probably should dissolve a
little sugar in the water.

I should have thought to say that about the walls when I posted about the Roach
Proof. You can get it into the walls by removing the plates from switches and
outlets and pouring it down there too.

You could be really spiffy and multi tasking by checking your insulation under
those plates at the same time. *smile*

  Hi Shane,

If you have no other pets, try boric acid. You can sprinkle it around under
sinks, wherever you think the things might be getting in, and they track
through it and it kills them. A friend of mine had a problem in Manhattan with
them, so he tapped some holes into the walls in the bathroom and kitchen,
funneled some boric acid in, spackled the holes and he never saw the things
again. Good luck.

  Best,
  Joe Monks
