That is not the problem. The problem with that is gas is a combustion 
engine and diesel is a compression engine.
  The gas engine compresses the fuel and then lites it with a spark. 
The diesel engine just lites it by compressing the fuel mix until it 
explodes, no spark. Even with glow plugs. They are only used to heat 
up the air and mix. To make compression easier for the engine.
Now a gas engine may use different fuels that basically work on same 
type. They just may have a different way of getting it into the chamber.
A diesel engine can work on just about anything with a oil base. 
Sense diesel is only flammable when compressed to vapor. If just a 
flame is put to diesel. It has to heat up before it does the burn.
