Re: [BlindHandyMan] smith and wesson multi tool

2010-03-22 Thread Lenny McHugh
Hi Andy, Well it does many things, thus the term multi-tool. The concept is
that of a Swiss army knife. When folded up, it is about an inch thick, 2
inches wide and maybe 6 inches long and is rectangular in shape.
When you start to pull it apart and open all the way a needle nose pliers is
exposed. The two sides of the case make the handle for the pliers. Now in
each side of the handles are several tools including a philips and straight
screwdriver, a knife, a serrated knife, a saw, a diamond file, a can and
bottle opener and a scissors. The needle nose has a crimper and cutter as
well.

I don't know. I learned about them from a grizzly.com email flyer. There was
a misprint in the flyer greatly inflating the regular price. I called to
confirm and was not sure about the quality for $10. IAt the time I was told
that they had a little over 200 left in stock. About a week later we made
the almost 2 hour trip and I was very pleasantly surprised. I purchased a
total of 8 and now wish I would have added a few more. I wanted one for the
van and the other for my shop. Since a neighbor who does a lot for us would
like one I lost the one for the shop. The rest are for Christmas presents.

[BlindHandyMan] smith and wesson multi tool

2010-03-21 Thread Lenny McHugh
When I was at Grizzly, I also picked up a multi tool for a friend that works
at Home Depot. I also got a can of slipit for him. Today we took a quick
ride to deliver the items. I took mine inside to first show it to him and
that if he was not interested a neighbor would like it. He was quite
impressed as well as a few other guys there. He could have used it an hour
earlier. He told me with the quality and price every employee would have
purchased one. He told me that I should have bought more. He never heard of
slipit until I told him about the product a few years ago. He indicated that
he would most likely would like some. So I purchased a can and if he did not
want it no problem I am down to about a third of a can. Again when he read
about it he was quite impressed.

slip it
Description
This cast iron table sealant and bit and cutting blade lubricant reduces
sliding friction and hang-ups. Repels moisture and dirt and inhibits rust
while preventing resin build-up. Out performs paste wax and contains no
silicone or CFC's.
In the past Karen read that
It does not prevent wood from taking a stain. Did not find that statement on
the web page but I think it is still on the can. That is what really caught
my friend's attention.
they also have it in a spray.
I have always used the jell and I did ask the salesman which is best. He
told me that some use the spray because it is quick but he personally likes
the jell. He feels that he gets a better coating and that confirmed my
opinion of the product.

Hi Lenny;

Thank you for the SlipIt explanation. Also, I ordered 4 of those Smith
Wesson multi purpose knives and they are pretty neat. Hell, my wife even
thinks they're cool. I also purchased 2 of their ratcheting screwdriver
sets. Thank you for letting us know about Grizzly.com. Take care.
