Hi all, > for some reason, both our server 5209r decided to AUTOMATICALLY install all > software and updates last night on both serves.
First of all: My apologies to anyone who is/was affected by this. I screwed up. :-/ The other day Greg and I were looking at an issue between NewLinQ and base-swupdate related to the auto-install and auto-update of the "NewLinQ" PKG. By design this PKG should get installed automatically if the "Active Monitor" component "Software Updates" is enabled. Which it didn't do. It should then also auto-update itself. Which it didn't do reliably either. We identified the issue and I published a fix. However, the logic behind that fix was flawed (my fault) and there was a usage case where the autoinstall flag could also be carried over to other available and not yet installed PKGs from NewLinQ. When that happened, not only the latest NewLinQ got installed, but it also brought other not yet installed PKGs aboard that NewLinQ listed as available to you. The faulty code in base-swupdate-1.6.1-0BX15 was published to YUM on 8th April 17:33 eastern and the fixed base-swupdate-1.6.1-0BX16 was released on 9th April 14:15 eastern. If you are affected by this, then please do the following: 1.) Run the following commands as "root": yum clean all yum update That makes sure that you have the latest base-swupdate module installed. I just released this a few moments ago. It contains the script /usr/sausalito/sbin/pkgCleanup.pl and that will get executed when base-swupdate is updated via YUM. This makes sure that the autoinstall flag is removed from PKGs in CODB. 2.) Uninstall all unwanted PKGs that came aboard. -- With best regards Michael Stauber _______________________________________________ Blueonyx mailing list Blueonyx@mail.blueonyx.it http://mail.blueonyx.it/mailman/listinfo/blueonyx
