Dear Community, I am deeply touched by your trust. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your votes. I never took my election for granted and the score you gave me is having me to stand with open mouth not really knowing what to say. You cannot even imagine what your support means for me in this particular period of my relationship with the project. I am humbled by your support. I pray that I will be always able to keep the good of the project as such as the top priority in every decision we will be brought to take. My thought goes to all those that did not cast their vote for me: I thank you for casting your votes in this election and I hope you will be satisfied with the action of this -- very diverse -- board. To all those candidates that did not get elected this time: Please accept the gratitude for your readiness to serve. You make a whole difference in the project by your willingness to contribute and to face the scrutiny of the community. LibreOffice would not be what it is without you. And I conclude with my best wishes in this joyous season for the community as whole. May the year to come be your year of breakthrough in domain where you need it, year of accomplishments, love and peace. I love you all. Yes, I do! ;) Fridrich On 24/12/13 09:16, Cor Nouws wrote: Dear members, I hereby announce the final results of The Document Foundation's Board of Directors elections 2013. Re: [board-discuss] Nominating Fridrich Strba for the BoD election
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hello, good people, Thanks a lot to my dear friend Thorsten for this nomination. After a moment of distance from the project, I am thrilled to be back, alive and kicking. I am humbled and naturally, I can only accept this generous nomination On 23/11/13 22:55, Thorsten Behrens wrote: Fridrich is the former chairman of the membership committee; and beyond being an all-round likeable person, I appreciate him the most for his true Free software spirit, and his great insight into community matters. Thorsten has the gift to find always words that make me -- for a short moment -- even believe all the nice things he says about me :) Name: Fridrich Strba email address: fridrich.st...@bluewin.ch no relevant affiliation (currently working for SUSE on unrelated stuff) I am reputed to be a developer. I have spent a lot of time to mentor GSoC students and to co-administer the GSoC within LibreOffice and within its predecessors. Why am I running? As a (naturalized) Swiss and fluent in a certain number of languages, I managed to create and keep great relationships in several NL communities as well as quite a good understanding of the different mentalities. Given my inside knowledge of the different communities, I am confident that I could be the bridging element inside the Board. In spite of my quite original character, and in major part by my persistence, I managed to give a birth to a particular community of writers of filters for reverse-engineered file-formats. This work helped to market our product as a Swiss Army Knife(tm) or office suites. Having gone with our project through periods of huge euphoria, but also through the dark valleys of deep depression, I can offer this experience for the good of the foundation and of its members. If the electors deem me worthy serving on the Board, I will do my very best not to disappoint them. Cheers F. - -- Please avoid sending me Word, Excel or PowerPoint attachments. [board-discuss] Nominate myself to MC elections
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, I would like to nominate myself for a seat to the Membership Committee elections. I have been member of this committee from its beginning and it would be a pleasure for me to be given the opportunity to serve another term. I am with the LibreOffice project since its beginnings. In this intermediary period, I was designed by my distinguished colleague as chairman of the MC. Active member of the OpenOffice.org predecessor since 2005, I was one of the release engineers that produces our first product release, the LibreOffice 3.3 beta at the day of the change of upstream (called wrongly by some a fork). I am mainly active in release engineering. Nonetheless, I have also mentored several successful Google Summer of Code projects and authored or co-authored several flagship features of our main releases. I maintain or co-maintain more then 5 external libraries that we use for different document importers. Last, but not least, I speak about 10 languages which gives me an opportunity to keep in loop about developments in many native language projects. I also know pretty well a majority of developers in our project. My goal for the next legislature would be to continue to grow the developer membership and try to find way to encourage people who enter the project to never leave it :) I am affiliated with SUSE.
