You seem to be saying the biggest star of the GOP has repeatedly gave
speeches, including addressing the Republican National Convention, about
Debates that _Never_ seem to have occurred.

I'm Shocked. Shocked I say.

It's like a scoundrel wrapping himself in the flag...Oh.

Well at least Nixon didn't do anything communistic like, say, implement
price and wage controls, or implement big government program after big
government program, or try to subvert the presidency with numerous
criminal operations...Oh.

As a citizen of Kah-lee-faw-nia, it's interesting that several of the
top items on Google for "nixon-humphrey debate" (with the hyphen) have
to do with Governor Schwartzenegger's claim that he decided to become a
republican after seeing Nixon debate Humphrey on TV:

"I saw communism with my own eyes," he said. "When I was a boy, the
Soviets occupied Austria. I saw their tanks in the streets." Coming to
the US, he saw a Nixon/Humphrey debate on TV. "I heard Humphrey saying
things that sounded like socialism, which is what I had just left. I
heard Nixon talking about free enterprise, getting the government off
your back, lowering taxes and strengthening the military. I said to a
friend, 'What party is he?' My friend said, 'He's a Republican.' And I
said, Then I am a Republican."

Did Nixon Debate Humphrey?

2004-09-01 Thread The Fool
I'm having trouble finding information about a Nixon-Humphrey debate. I
wan't to find out what humphrey was saying that sounded like socialism
and what nixon was saying that sounded like free enterprise.
