How about Spaceballs? This was a good movie. With classic gags like Canned Air, John Candy as Barf, Part man, part Man's best friend, virgin klaxon warning, The Swartz, Jammed radar (with real jam), ludicrous speed, plot twists where they use technology to view the movie before it reaches the video rental market, to find out where the heroes are hiding, the huge and easy to use self-destruct button, and so on and so on... Definitely not a bad Sci-fi, but one of the best. Actually, when it comes to sci-fi movies, it is the rare movie that becomes a good classic, most become video rental store dross. To stay on topic here, we are talking about bad sci-fi that makes it to DVD. I expect there really won't be many noteworthy that make it. It has a very young Courtney Cox (maybe 20ish) and Robert Duncan Neil (Lt Paris on Voyager) at about 18 years old. Mine is sort of the same brown color as a cardboard box. There wasn't a whole lot of variety available at that time, and I haven't seen them in a whole lot of places, although that may just reflect the demand for such things in places I have lived. (I got that one while living in Utah.) I have a set (actually, at least two sets, IIRC) of 3 d10s, numbered 00(10)90, 0(1)9, and 0/10(1/10)9/10. Occasionally when I'm about to hand back a test or something like that, I pull them out and ask if any of the students would like to roll the dice and take the sum of them rather than the actual grade they earned. So far, no one has taken me up on the offer, possibly because I usually demonstrate with a few rolls, and they see that they are just as likely to get a very low grade as to better their grade. FWIW, I got them at a teacher's supply store. I've noticed that they also have some with numbers and others with arithmetic operator symbols (+, -, x, /, =, and maybe and ) for making up flash card type problems as well as some with letters and combinations of letters for creating words. Those things take awhile to settle, and it's a little tricky sometimes to figure out which face is *up*. Yes. Note that I didn't say it was all that \useful\. (And it is absolutely \worthless\ if you don't have a smooth, level, hard surface to roll it on.) Just wanted to make sure you had one in your collection. Mine is sort of the same brown color as a cardboard box. There wasn't a whole lot of variety available at that time, and I haven't seen them in a whole lot of places, although that may just reflect the demand for such things in places I have lived. (I got that one while living in Utah.) I have a set (actually, at least two sets, IIRC) of 3 d10s, numbered 00(10)90, 0(1)9, and 0/10(1/10)9/10. Occasionally when I'm about to hand back a test or something like that, I pull them out and ask if any of the students would like to roll the dice and take the sum of them rather than the actual grade they earned. So far, no one has taken me up on the offer, possibly because I usually demonstrate with a few rolls, and they see that they are just as likely to get a very low grade as to better their grade. FWIW, I got them at a teacher's supply store. I've noticed that they also have some with numbers and others with arithmetic operator symbols (+, -, x, /, =, and maybe and ) for making up flash card type problems as well as some with letters and combinations of letters for creating words. Does your collection extend to dice like that, or only ones more or less suited to playing games? The only dice with operands that I have are fudge dice, with +s and -s. I have some with dinosaurs on them, though! :) I have a couple of doubling cubes from backgammon sets that were rendered less than useful when some of the checkers were lost. I have 3 dice numbered 0 through 5, with the 5 being a Babylon 5 kind of logo. I have some round dice. Where each face is, inside there's a cup. The cups are all open to a space in the middle. There's a little ball in there and when it stablizes as the die is being rolled, it weights down one side so the pips at the opposite end of the ball are on the top. (I have 2 purple ones and 1 green one. The purple ones came in a Christmas stocking. The green one had been in someone else's stocking, can't remember if it was my husband or my sister who got it, and the other green one got lost somewhere along the way.) I have some elongated dice that look almost like little logs -- the rolling is a little more literal than with some other dice. :) Can't find the dinosaur dice right now -- not in the dice bag. But I disagree with your statemement so bad they're good; this movie was MEANT to be campy, since its deliberately trying to evoke the adventure serials of a bygone day. Bruce Campbell, who played Ash in the Evil Dead horror films, told SCI FI Wire that there is some validity to the rampant rumors about the possibility of a movie that would pit his character against Freddy of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Jason from the Friday the 13th franchise. But Campbell added that nothing is imminent. As I've been explaining to people, this wouldn't be a movie where you could just make a phone call and go, 'Let's do it,' and then it all happens, Campbell said in an interview. You've got three franchises. Campbell added, [That] means you have 17 lawyers, each going, 'Yeah, look at my franchise. Yeah, look at my franchise.' So you have to get past that. Then you have to get past the question of 'how will the characters be treated?' What would you do with Ash? There's no way I'd be in it if I lost. No way.
