This image comes in 7 different flavors, depending on your
connection
speed. I downloaded the 2.49 mb .JPG file and am currently
downloading
the 76 MB TIFF file. If you have the connection speed (or
 patience) and
your PC has the resources to open these larger images, they are
definitely worth looking at. The sheer number of galaxies that are
visible behind this galaxy is incredible.

Very, very cool. I think I know what my new wallpaper is going to
be! Thanks for posting it.

::mentally picturing my wife's horrified reaction if I completely papered
our second bedroom with that image::

Note to self: buy more printer paper. :-D

I downloaded it at work, the big picture. I have two questions. Is the
supernova they are talking about in the upper right galaxy? If not, what is it?

And why does that bright image in the upper right and the red star in the
middle right haverays?in the image? Most everything is a pin point
of light, except for those two sources.

The supernova was in the main galaxy but it was awhile back (10
years ago?). It had faded by the time the Hubble took this picture.
There's another picture on the site that compares a ground-based
photo with the Hubble pic. The supernova is evident in the
ground-based photo but not in this one.

Don't know about the others...
