> > How about "Spaceballs"? > This was a good movie. With classic gags like Canned Air, John Candy as Barf, Part man, part Man's best friend, virgin klaxon warning, The Swartz, Jammed radar (with real jam), ludicrous speed, plot twists where they use technology to view the movie before it reaches the video rental market, to find out where the heroes are hiding, the huge and easy to use self-destruct button, and so on and so on... Definitely not a bad Sci-fi, but one of the best. Actually, when it comes to sci-fi movies, it is the rare movie that becomes a good classic, most become video rental store dross. To stay on topic here, we are talking about bad sci-fi that makes it to DVD. I expect there really won't be many noteworthy that make it. I too like Roger Corman movies. I just bought "The Last Woman on Earth" on DVD for $3.00. Horrible, horrible acting and content, but great at the same time. Well, it has Dolph Lungren in it for starters, that's enough to make it a bad movie in my opinion. But seriously, it is s cheesy that it is almost funny. Imagine a muscle bound hero with an IQ of 25 running around in a loincloth with a sword fighting villains that have particle beam weapons. Then you get the idea. It has a very young Courtney Cox (maybe 20ish) and Robert Duncan Neil (Lt Paris on Voyager) at about 18 years old. The *BEST* way to watch this movie is MST3K style with beer or tequila and a couple of really sarcastic buddies. ___ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l

I have some with dinosaurs on them, though! :) I have a couple of doubling cubes from backgammon sets that were rendered less than useful when some of the checkers were lost. I have 3 dice numbered 0 through 5, with the 5 being a "Babylon 5" kind of logo. I have some round dice. Where each "face" is, inside there's a cup. The cups are all open to a space in the middle. There's a little ball in there and when it stablizes as the die is being rolled, it weights down one side so the pips at the opposite end of the ball are on the top. (I have 2 purple ones and 1 green one. The purple ones came in a Christmas stocking. The green one had been in someone else's stocking, can't remember if it was my husband or my sister who got it, and the other green one got lost somewhere along the way.) I have some elongated dice that look almost like little logs -- the "rolling" is a little more literal than with some other dice. :) Can't find the dinosaur dice right now -- not in the dice bag. RE: Favorite bad Sci-Fi movies on DVD
How pathetic is this? I am replying to myself :-) > Army of Darkness (has to be the king of campy) Speaking of Ash, I just ran across this tidbit on Sci-Fi Wire. Ash Taking On Freddy And Jason? Bruce Campbell, who played Ash in the Evil Dead horror films, told SCI FI Wire that there is "some validity" to the rampant rumors about the possibility of a movie that would pit his character against Freddy of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Jason from the Friday the 13th franchise. But Campbell added that nothing is imminent. "As I've been explaining to people, this wouldn't be a movie where you could just make a phone call and go, 'Let's do it,' and then it all happens," Campbell said in an interview. "You've got three franchises." Campbell added, "[That] means you have 17 lawyers, each going, 'Yeah, look at my franchise. Yeah, look at my franchise.' So you have to get past that. Then you have to get past the question of 'how will the characters be treated?' What would you do with Ash? There's no way I'd be in it if I lost. No way. The good guy has to win, especially in that movie. You couldn't kill two whole franchises, but we could sure maim them." http://tinyurl.com/2fdm9 ___ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l

Some of my favorites... Army of Darkness (has to be the king of campy) Biggles Buckaroo Banzai They Live Flight of the Navigator (not necessarily campy, but a favorite) He-Man (as much as I hate to admit I like that silly movie) Battle Beyond the Stars The Last Starfighter Space Camp Independence Day ___ http://www.mccmedia.com/mailman/listinfo/brin-l
