Re: Added directories not reflected on update

2002-03-17 Thread Riley Williams

Hi Joanna, Larry.

Synopsis: if user a does cvs add newdir and user b does cvs
update, user b does not get newdir.

Until user a does cvs commit there's nothing for user b to create as
user a could still decide that directory isn't needed after all.

You need to give update the -d option to create new directories.

I have to admit that I would personally prefer for the meaning of -d to
be inverted there, but it's probably far too late to do that now.

Best wishes from Riley.

Synopsis: if user a does cvs add newdir and user b does cvs update, user b
does not get newdir.
Severity: serious
Priority: medium
Category: cvs
Class: sw-bug
Release: 1.11.1p1
Environment:

System: Linux roam93-56.wjh.harvard.edu 2.4.9-31 #1 Tue Feb 26 07:11:02 EST 2002 i686
unknown
Architecture: i686

Description:

Actually, the single line version says it all. I guess I should make
it clear that I am trying to add a new directory into a current project.
How-To-Repeat:

This is also in the single line version!
Fix:

The only way I know to fix this is to do a seperate cvs checkout, and
move the desired directory into the one currently being used!
