Trying to render e.g. the ms.ms document - "Using groff with the ms Macro
Package", that ships with groff, with the html output device results in 59
0-length png files being created in the working directory. I don't know what
is going wrong but of course grohtml should not do that. The command line used
to render the ms.ms document was: groff -p -e -t -ms -Thtml ms.ms

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #65936 (group groff):

What version of groff are you running? I can't reproduce this under either
1.22.4 or a recent git build (1.23.0.1262-4c62e-dirty). That is, I do get 59
.png files, but they all have content (file sizes vary from 553 to 28196
bytes), and some are referred to by the generated HTML code. (It's unclear to
me the purpose of the rest--the vast majority--if the HTML doesn't use them.)

When running your command, the newer groff does generate 59 lines of "pnmcrop:
The image is entirely background; there is nothing to crop" on stderr. But
the images look OK despite these diagnostics.

Do you know if your system has pnmcrop installed (this is part of netpbm, not
groff)?

I'm running 1.23.0

Yes, it is installed.

It is absolutely reproducible at my end.
