[bug #65246] [grops] download file does not handle .pfa filenames which contain spaces

2024-02-19 Thread Dave
Follow-up Comment #3, bug#65246 (group groff):

This fix addresses one of the complaints of bug #58036.

Also, to add to the fix's NEWS item's sentence "The download file for grops
shipped by groff has long used tabs rather than spaces for field separation":
fortunately, so have the "download" entries added by install-font.sh. While
this is not (yet (bug #60930)) an official groff tool, it is widely used in
the community.

commit f918f6d285514690999061bd6269e13389a0b611
Author: G. Branden Robinson
Date:   Sat Feb 17 20:08:45 2024 -0600

[grops]: Fix Savannah #65246 (spacey file names).

* src/devices/grops/psrm.cpp (resource_manager::read_download_file):
  Stop interpreting spaces as token delimiters, so that PostScript font
  files with spaces in their names can be handled (read and embedded in
  the generated PostScript).

* src/devices/grops/grops.1.man (Usage): Update documentation.

* NEWS: Add item reporting this user-visible change.

Fixes . Thanks to Deri James for
the report.

Follow-up Comment #1:

This is a feature change, as the file format is documented in _grops_(1) as
using spaces for field separation.

However, I don't see any reason to keep this distinction between gropdf's
"download" format and grops's, and spacey font file names are likely something
we should deal with, while tabby ones--I hope--aren't.
