Sounds like a 1.6 ship-stopping bug to me. Does anyone disagree?

Well we can probably find some replacement URLs, but I think the wider
question is whether we still want to preserve this tired old history
in the Guile tutorial?

Opinions?

You're quite right - read-and-eval! has now been removed from
development CVS. I'll remove the corresponding manual entry.

Thanks!

Yes, if `and-let-star-compat.scm' never ever will be generated in
build time (so that right version of it will appear in build dir).

from looking at the makefiles, i could not infer when (if ever)
and-let-star-compat.scm would be generated, and so i've gone ahead and
made the small change. thanks for the report!

To get 'and-let*.scm' installed correctly when source directory is
not the same as build one, I copied commands from `Makefile.in' in
   `Makefile.am'.

what behavior do you see w/o this patch?

I'm not sure, but I think Alex was talking about the `R5RS Index'
   node in the GRM.

of course! sorry for the brain fade...

i've added a "display" entry to the node "Writing" (both branches). the
entry is included in "R5RS Index". thanks for the clarification, and
thanks, Alex, for the suggestion.

The reason is that the Guile reader only records source positions for
cons cells. That means that a symbol like `here' will not have any
source location attached, whereas a quotation like `'here' will.
