Adding this feature would still be welcome, but probably not too much time should be taken by this, I don't know how hard it would be to dive into the code etc. The old boot-floppies code we currently use is known to be quite hard to maintain and extent, which is one of the major reasons the debian-installer project got started to address these issues.
