When looking through the CG searching for info on contributing I was
directed to the Meisters page to get in touch with them.

On the page itself however I only find four first names without any
contact information.

Fortunately I could figure out whom to contact, but of course you can't
expect someone willing to contribute not to stop here and look for
something different.

I would say that on that page I would like to see the full names of the
Meisters as well as their email addresses in order to 'get in touch'
with the as I was suggested to.

Attached patch would do that.

Feel free to include it

I presume the reason emails weren't there was because of the extra
spam they could generate.

That's what I thought first too.
But Documentation/included/authors.itexi _does_ show email addresses
(even undisguised ones).

This should be clarified:

- Should email addresses be exposed on lilypond.org?
- if yes, undisguised or in which form?
- if there should be _no_ email addresses the documentation in the CG
should be adapted. Maybe one could be asked to write to the mailing
list in order to get contacted back? Although this isn't exactly
encouraging ...

Would somebody please create a tracker about this?

The current behaviour is not acceptable. We can't direct potential
contributors to the Meisters page and leave them there without any
contact information.

Another idea to protect the privacy of the meisters would be to create
'anonymous' email accounts like bug-meis...@lilypond.org that forward to
a personal mailbox.

If there is an agreement on what we want to have I can prepare a patch.

If I had my email address clearly exposed in the project page, it
would be only tangentially more prone to spam than it currently is. I
do not oppose to show it, possibly with a minimal obfuscation such as
'at' 'dot' and the like, which spambots can already decypher anyway.

I think if we can manage long-running project aliases like
bug-meis...@lilypond.org, that would be preferable. We have
responsibilities shifting not infrequently, and people just _love_ to
consult documentation that has been outdated for decades and/or that is
corresponding to the software version they have installed.

Alternatively, point people directly to the mailing lists.

Attached is a patch that adds four alias addresses to the Meisters page.
In order to be applied someone should have created the email addresses
bug-meis...@lilypond.org
doc-meis...@lilypond.org
translation-meis...@lilypond.org
frog-meis...@lilypond.org
and set them up to forward to the real persons.

Willing to contribute I was directed to the Meisters page - only to get stuck there without any contact information.

This patch supplies alias email addresses.
Someone with the privileges to do so should set up the mail accounts and corresponding forwards before applying this patch

My email address has been unchanged and exposed for nigh on 25 yrs
now. I don't think exposure on the lilypond website is likely to have
much effect on the spam I currently receive. I've learnt how to deal with
it.

I think if we can manage long-running project aliases like

That's a reasonable thing to do, but it has no effect on reducing
spam.

Alternatively, point people directly to the mailing lists.

That's a good suggestion. All the developers are contactable
via the devel list, and anyone can post there via gmane without
needing to subscribe.

Someone less commited to the project would probably stop here, so I add the relevant information to the Meisters page
