Licenses for software in GUB
Hi folks, lilypond --warranty tells me I should have received a copy of the GPL (referred to in the file COPYING) with the binaries. However, I don't seem to be able to find anything close to a license anywhere in /usr/local/lilypond. This probably needs to be fixed. As I understand it, if I were to host the GUB as is on my website I'm violating the terms of the GPL. On a related issue, how does the lack of accompanying licenses affect the distribution of other software in the GUB, like Python (ok AFAIK), the ps2whatever utilities, fonts and so on? Or have I (like so many before me) completely misunderstood this whole licensing thing? -- = Cameron Horsburgh = ___ bug-lilypond mailing list bug-lilypond@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-lilypond

You would have to provide the source code and patches for all the packages as well. -- Han-Wen Nienhuys - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://www.xs4all.nl/~hanwen LilyPond Software Design -- Code for Music Notation http://www.lilypond-design.com ___ bug-lilypond mailing list bug-lilypond@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-lilypond

It contains licenses for all included packages. -- Han-Wen Nienhuys - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://www.xs4all.nl/~hanwen LilyPond Software Design -- Code for Music Notation http://www.lilypond-design.com ___ bug-lilypond mailing list bug-lilypond@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-lilypond

A minor nitpick: I did notice that there's no file called 'COPYING' as referred to in the 'lilypond --warranty' invocation. -- = Cameron Horsburgh = ___ bug-lilypond mailing list bug-lilypond@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-lilypond
