Very misleading typo in the docs on 3rd-party DSO compilation.

   Summary: Very misleading typo in the docs on 3rd-party DSO
compilation.
   Product: Apache httpd-2.0
   Version: HEAD
  Platform: All
   URL: http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/dso.html
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: Minor
  Priority: Other
 Component: Documentation
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

An example of third-party DSO module installation in the documentation page
found at http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/dso.html lists the following command
as
the one needed to install a compiled DSO module:

$ apxs -i -a -n foo mod_foo.so

I believe it should be:

$ apxs -i -a -n foo mod_foo.la

Cost me an hour of my work type. Argh!

[mod_rewrite] last character of request is stripped

   Summary: [mod_rewrite] last character of request is stripped
   Product: Apache httpd-2.0
   Version: 2.0.40
  Platform: PC
OS/Version: FreeBSD
Status: NEW
  Severity: Blocker
  Priority: Other
 Component: mod_rewrite
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Under certain circumstances, mod_rewrite will delete the last charachter of a
request, resulting in a failure to retreive the resource.

Example: I use Serveralias *.domain.nl to foward all subdomains of a virtal
host. Through the .htaccess and the Rewriteengine I will distribute subdomains
to subdirs. Now, the indexfile in those subdirs is index.html. My
DirectoryIndex states index.html index.htm index.php index.cgi . See what
happens:

(2)No such file or directory: file permissions deny server
access: /usr/local/www/domain.nl/docs/directory/index.htm

A request directly to the subdir will succeed. Through subdomain.domain.nl it
will produce the above error.

This is VERY similiar to bug #10687, where a SSI include would have it's last
character stripped off as well.

He also was using FreeBSD4.6

Upgraded to Apache 2.0.40, FreeBSD 4.6.2-RELEASE; problem still exists.

I'm not so sure this is a problem with the sendfile(2) changes, as that only
changes what is retured in sbytes, so I don't see how that would be cause a
problem with the actual contents returned.

The problem definately seems to be with the way either AFS is handling things or
the way Apache is handling AFS. I'm leaning toward the latter because other
programs work fine w.r.t. viewing images on AFS, except Apache corrupts things
badly...download the image and take a look at it and see what I mean. It seems
to collect things from all across the filesystem inadvertantly.

Path specification when setting a cookie with mod_rewrite

  Priority: Other
 Component: mod_rewrite

Currently, when setting a cookie using the cookie|CO RewriteRule flag there is
no ability to specify the path of the cookie.

'cookie|CO=NAME:VAL:domain[:lifetime]' (set cocookie)

I suggest adding a second optional parameter to specify the path of the
cookie. By adding it as an optional parameter, there won't be any conflicts
with existing cookie RewriteRules.

'cookie|CO=NAME:VAL:domain[:lifetime][:path]' (set cocookie)

I've modified the add_cookie function below to work with the new path field.
===
static void add_cookie(request_rec *r, char *s)
{
char *var;
char *val;
char *domain;
char *expires;
char *path;

char *tok_cntx;
char *cookie;

if (s) {
var = apr_strtok(s, :, tok_cntx);
val = apr_strtok(NULL, :, tok_cntx);
domain = apr_strtok(NULL, :, tok_cntx);
expires = apr_strtok(NULL, :, tok_cntx);
path = apr_strtok(NULL, :, tok_cntx);

if (var  val  domain) {
/* FIX: use cached time similar to how logging does it */
cookie = apr_pstrcat( r-pool,
  var,
  =,
  val,
  ; path=,
  (path)? path : /,
  ; domain=,
  domain,
  (expires)? ; expires= : NULL,
  (expires)? ap_ht_time(r-pool,
r-request_time +
apr_time_from_sec(60 *
atol(expires)),
 %a, %d-%b-%Y %T GMT,
1)
   : NULL,
  NULL);

/*
 * XXX: should we add it to err_headers_out as well ?
 * if we do we need to be careful that only ONE gets sent out
 */
apr_table_add(r-headers_out, Set-Cookie, cookie);
rewritelog(r, 5, setting cookie '%s' to '%s', var, val);
}
}
}

when using the rewritelock directive, no lock file is created.
due to this problem the synchronization between the httpd and the external

the same mod_rewrite configuration works in apache 1.3.26, i tried to use mpm
as worker and as prefork without success
