You will note that the child consumes many more resources than the parent. ApacheMonitor.exe may be running if you have the monitor running in the taskbar, displaying the status of the running apache process. You mention both SP2 and SP3 'trash' your system. If the system is that unstable, there is possibly no help we can provide. Finally, you mention you can't 'stop' apache, and it reboots your machine when you attempt to stop it. Folks are playing games in that fn with data in another module. Apparently libapr was relocated, and data doesn't always survive being relocated. Apparently the address referencing/dereferencing might be causing us problems. Either that, or more likely, tm_wday/tm_mon were not populated correctly, and they are pointing at random memory. Even worse, the exploded_cache_gmt and exploded_cache_localtime seem to never be zeroed out, and perhaps the author has assumed the statics will be zeroed out when the library is loaded. Although I haven't seen this on any NT box (perhaps because NT does so), this behavior may be different on Win9x. Basically I have tried every possible way to stop it and none have worked. It is running as a service. I don't have the Apache monitor running, it is Apache.exe that appears three times in the process list. As far as the service packs go, they are buggy pieces of junk. I have tried reformatting my harddrive, installing just Windows 2000 and then the service packs. They trash Windows 2000 every time. I worked for a government office a couple of years ago, and the network techs there discovered that the Windows 2000 service packs would trash any machine that had a certain Intel motherboard in it, so they made a policy that no service packs would be installed ever. They verified with Microsoft that there is a problem with the service packs on certain motherboards, but MS decided it wasn't worth their time to fix it. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We also have Oracle 8 installed wich we access using odbc. We have about 100 unique visitors each hour, that normally corresponds to 5000 hits and 20 MB transfered. After some time of apache being started, dr. watson appears saying apache as generated an application exception: access violation (c005). After that, it keeps appearing, each time sooner, until the moment apache simply hangs. Then I have to STOP and START apache (restart doesn't solve it) or even reboot the machine. I've already followed every single suggestion I could find on the net and yet the problem persists. Any ideas would be much appreciated :) Thanks in advance. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

FileTimeToLocalFileTime doesn't pay attention to daylight savings time, which was badness. The fix was using SystemTimeToTzSpecificLocalTime() which is only supported under NT (not 9x.) I will be applying conditional logic to use the old code, and post up a patch for Win9x/ME users to replace their libapr.dll. The files in support() might need to be updated; I will take a look to see which (if any) are affected. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It appears that the certificate and/or key I was using was NG, or missing, or not the right file type, or something. I changed to a known good cert/key and it worked. Is there some way I could have discovered this from the logs or something? Thanks for the help -- sorry if I wasted your time. DO NOT REPLY [Bug 16303] New: - mod_cgi works intermittently
DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL, BUT PLEASE POST YOUR BUG RELATED COMMENTS THROUGH THE WEB INTERFACE AVAILABLE AT http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16303. ANY REPLY MADE TO THIS MESSAGE WILL NOT BE COLLECTED AND INSERTED IN THE BUG DATABASE. http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16303 mod_cgi works intermittently Summary: mod_cgi works intermittently Product: Apache httpd-1.3 Version: 1.3.27 Platform: Other URL: http://www.ringofsaturn.com OS/Version: FreeBSD Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: Other Component: mod_cgi AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have been troubleshooting an issue with my perl cgi scripts not working for about 3 weeks now. I am running on FreeBSD 4.7 and using apache 1.3.27 with mod_ssl version 2.8.12 as well as mod_php4-4.2.3. All of my perl scripts that worked on the previous system now produce premature end of script headers. I am using a known working httpd.conf file (it worked on my previous install). My scripts work correctly from the command line and produce proper HTTP1.0 headers. I have also compiled a hello.c file to test if it was just perl and that is not the case. The interesting issue on this one is that these scripts all the sudden started working when I did essentially nothing to solve the problem. Well, I had to make a change to httpd.conf (or so I thought) because all of my perl scripts would now only accept GET data and not POST. When I restarted apache using apachectl graceful, again, all my cgi scripts broke. PHP works fine. This is an error that is way outside all of the usual FAQ's on cgi's not working as I am wits end on how to solve it. I'm almost wondering if apache is trying to execute the cgi scripts and is unable to do so for some reason. Maybe not able to start a new process. Also, for about 10 seconds today after the cgi's broke, the perl and C scripts both executed, and then stopped again. So, any ideas? I'm not sure if I found a bug in apache or not, but this is way outside of my knowledge base. Thanks! It did. Kind of. The error messages are no longer there, but with the Sprint PCS connection manager installed, Apache chugs my CPU at 99-100% usage. No errors in the log, no disk activity, but 100% CPU usage. I uninstall the connection manager, and it works fine. ANY REPLY MADE TO THIS MESSAGE WILL NOT BE COLLECTED AND INSERTED IN THE BUG DATABASE. http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13609 apachectl does not work under Tru64 Unix --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-01-21 22:26 --- I have done some more poking about. The configure script changes the shell from Bourne to Korn, in (I believe) the line: exec $CONFIG_SHELL $0 ${1+$@} which restarts the script using the Korn shell. At that point, it eventually gets to the line: if TMP_ULIMIT=`ulimit -H -n` ulimit -S -n $TMP_ULIMIT ; then and is still running the Korn shell. The argument `ulimit -H -n` is perfectly valid in T64 Korn shell, so the configure script would not assign null to APACHECTL_ULIMIT. What I don't understand is why you were seeing differently. Presumably, when you tested this, configure did not restart itself with the Korn Shell? In any event, there is a discrepancy between T64 ksh and sh, in that -H is valid in ksh, but -h should be used in sh. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
