Andre, I concur with your assessment. Handlers should be able to handle
virtual resources - and explicitly spelling those that are to handle
 virtual resources would be goodness.

However, RESOLVED LATER indicates that the problem is resolved in a past
release, only not the version the user reported the problem in. Reopen
this report entirely until you are satisfied of it's closure.

Those keys are out of date with respect to the signatures. (Approx. 8 people
in that list have signed my key.) You'd have to retrieve the updated
signatures from the public keyservers in order to get an accurate list. We
will not update the KEYS file everytime someone signs a key.

Once you get the keys, you know the ID number/fingerprint. Doing an update on
the keys will get you updated signatures.

Sure, updating the file every time a key gets signed appears to be exaggerated,
but how about monthly?

Asking people to update the keys from (by far not always available) keyservers
looks to me rather like practical assigment in school than the service of a
leading open source project that prides itself to have mass-appeal

This has been fixed in httpd-2.0: modules/metadata/mod_mime_magic.c r1.61.

I'm not entirely sure this will be backported to 1.3 or 2.0. It could be, but
this is esoteric enough that I think it can wait until 2.2.

The reason to distribute the KEYS file at all is to know what keys are the
'right ones' rather than obtaining current signatories for the keys. If you
wish to obtain the current list of signatures for a key, you need to consult
the public key server.

It is unreasonable to expect us to update the keys on a regular basis when
people outside of our control may sign our keys and update the key servers
without our intervention. (Why they would do it without consulting us is
beyond me, but we've had people sign all of our keys whom we don't know.)

We're providing the KEYS file as a mechanism for bootstrapping, but that only
goes so far.

I almost would have said "well not regularly/monthly, but after each major of
your key-signing party..."
But now that you say that on the public servers, there end up endorsing
signatures on your key building the possibility for a trust web you perhaps
perfer to be not part of, this is even more the reason that the KEYS should be
kept relatively up to date at the center once rather than having thousands of
people over and over downloading keys that are beyond your control and may
contain misleading facets...

It's fixed in 2.1 and proposed for backport. apxs checks the last LoadModule
line on being within section(s) and puts the new line after that section(s)
then.
(AddModule will be treated similar in 1.3).

Thanks for your report and thanks for using Apache!

1. this is only a bug on Windows 9x, not on Windows NT (afaik)
2. it still exists in version 2.0.44
3. it has nothing to do with firewalls
==> this bug is not fixed

I tested v2.0.44 (with Win9x patch installed) on Win98SE with and without a
firewall (Kerio PF).

BTW: the Apache Monitor application that comes with Apache 2 works fine with
Apache 1.3.27 (even with a firewall), it doesn't work with Apache 2 (on Win9x).

[off-topic]Why not include Apache Monitor with Apache 1.3.x?[/off-topic]

Filehandles of logs not closed before exec of cgi scripts

Summary: Filehandles of logs not closed before exec of cgi
scripts
 Product: Apache httpd-2.0
 Version: 2.0.44
 Platform: All
OS/Version: FreeBSD
Status: NEW
 Severity: Critical
 Priority: Other
Component: Core
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy:

We updated one of our servers from apache-2.0.39 to
apache-2.0.44 and noticed that 2.0.44 fails to close
the file handles of the logfiles before executing cgi
scripts.

We test by running a php script via the cgi interface and
using lsof to list the open file handles. (See below)

This enables cgi's to access the logs of other virtual hosts.

We can reproduce this under FreeBSD 4-STBALE and 5.0 RELEASE
using the preforked mpm and apache-2.0.40, 2.0.43 and 2.0.44.
The problem does not occur on apache-2.0.39.

We think this bug might be related to Bug 12774 which was closed
due to lack of response from the original poster. This was also
oing from 2.0.39 to 2.0.40.

This could also be related to the changes in apr/file_io/src/unix/file_dup.c
from 1.48 to 1.49 and the introduction of apr_file_setaside().
These changes were after 2.0.39 and before 2.0.40.

Greetings
Christian Kratzer

Status: NEW
 Severity: Normal

Component: mod_negotiation
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy:

If I set "ForceLanguagePriority Fallback" in apache's configuration it is always
returning the smallest available file if a request is served that did not
contain an "Accept-Language" header.
To my understanding it should serve these requests as they were received with an
"Accept-Language" header with the content of the "LanguagePriority"
configuration setting.

I have a directory on a web server:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/files/sw-test

In the .htaccess file for that directory the following lines appear:

AddDescription "This is a test document" test.doc
AddDescription "This is a file test" file-test.doc

Yet, as you can see, when Apache does a directory listing, the description it
shows for file-test.doc is the one for test.doc.

Since upgrading to apache 2.0.44 I cannot get ssl to work. I get the following
errors when I try to start apache loading the mod_ssl module:

Syntax error on line 263 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/modules/mod_ssl.so into server: /usr/local/apache/
modules/mod_ssl.so: undefined symbol: SSL_CTX_set_tmp_rsa_callback

This is loading the exact same ssl.conf file that i used for apache 2.0.43. Is
there some kind of a bug with 2.0.44 and ssl?

strlen doesn't work here, because the env array consists of enties ala
"PATH=/foo/bar".

But you're right, it's not really a security risk. But I'm pedantic ;-))
I found, however, and I think, most
of the stuff suggested there is worth to be patched. (the current problem is
also described there - with the same solution, I proposed here 5 years later ;-)

Unfortunately, the fact that it is a regression from one release to another
doesn't change anything. We can't worry about the generated code to the level
of whether or not gcc chooses to call functions in libgcc.a.

You're going to need to follow one of the suggestions I outlined previously.
Hopefully something like this will work:

SH_LDFLAGS='-L/path/to/libgcc.a -lgcc' ./configure --other-options
