Degree in statistics/math or a related field with 2+ years of statistical
modeling and programming experience in financial industry.
Must have experience with Big Data systems like Hadoop/Storm/Spark is
desirable. Programming experience with Java/Python.
*Position Overview:*
The Data Architect ("data scientist") will be a member of the Site
Reliability Engineering (SRE) Merchant Monitoring team. The main
responsibility of this individual will be to develop statistical models
that will be run against Big Data and Storm applications. He/She will be
working closely with the engineering team and management to code,
understand requirements, and create/develop models that detect merchant
integration problems.
*Responsibilities:*
Merchant Monitoring system will help identify when there are anomalies in
the transaction patterns for merchants based on historical data. Data
Scientist/Architect will use the historical data to come up with
statistical models which will help detect these anomalies.
Understand the historical data and analyze that using machine learning and
other methods to create the statistical models
Work with the engineering team to help explain the models and also work
with them to explain how these can be implemented.
Complete the feedback loop by analyzing the results from the execution of
models back into the models to enable self-learning.
*Qualifications:*
Degree in Statistics/Math or a related field with 2+ years of Statistical
Modeling and programming experience in financial industry.
Experience with Big data systems like Hadoop/Storm/Spark is desirable.
Proficiency in programming languages like Java/Python.
Experience in providing statistical programming support.
Working knowledge of data management procedures, workflows and software
systems.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, including management,
engineers, product managers and database engineers.
