[BVARC] Jo Keener update

Jo has been moved to Encompass Health Rehab Center, 1325 Hiway 6, Sugar Land. 
He has had an operation on his neck that has relieved some of the pressure on 
his nerves. I visited him today, and he is able to raise his arms and walk 
better. His new telephone. number is 281 276 7574.

 Jimmy,I'd sent about 2 or 3 candidates your way - due to no VE session at 
Bayland.We have 3 planning to test at the hamfest, too - so far.

[BVARC] BVARC General Meeting Thursday, March 14th, 2019

Coming up next Thursday at the BVARC general meeting will be several
mini-programs:

 

Building Kits - Design and Technics
Donovan Bali

Public Service Events - 47th Annual Buffalo Bayou Regatta, A Review   Mark
Janzer

 

There will also be a quick review of the Greater Houston Hamfest. We are
still needing volunteers. 

 

Mark will also be talking about the upcoming Museum Ships Weekend and the
building party coming up. 

 

Donovan will also be talking about the upcoming Kit Building program that
will be starting in BVARC. The 

first session will be held in April so keep checking the BVARC web site and
newsletter. 

 

Remember, Greater Houston HamFest in two weeks!

[BVARC] Slow speed one hour CW contests on March 13.

CWOPS will host three special slow speed one hour CW contests on March 13th to 
honor graduates of CW academy classes. The CW speed is limited to 20 wpm and 
the contests are open to everyone. 

This is a great time to welcome new CW operators. It is also a great time for 
people who are not good at CW to get some slow speed practice. And, even if you 
are an expert in CW, please get on the air to welcome these new CW operators. 

The exchange is very simple. If you are a member of CWOPS, send your first name 
and academy number. If you are not a member, send first name and state. You can 
post your score at www.3830scores.com if you wish. 

You can find details about the contests at the CWOPS web site or at 
https://contestcalendar.com/contestdetails.php?ref=498 The first session starts 
at 7am, the second at 2pm and the third at 9pm CST. 

Please get on the air and encourage the new graduates.
