Re: [BVARC] QST Stircrazy Net control stations needed.- Update to the Net Control sheet

2020-08-02 Thread Monty Weeks via BVARC
If no one else wants to do it on this coming Tuesday (8/4), I will take the
slot. My only hesitation is that I will be down in Galveston that day, so
if someone wants to back me up in case I can't hit the repeater, then that
would be greatness. I normally don't have any problems from down there,
but we all know how that goes.

Tom, I hit the repeater from 16' from League City and 24' from Galveston.
Both radios are are 50 watts on high.

Well, after Murphy hitting me for Field Day and continuing on for the IARU,
I was able to put in a decent effort for this contest.

I could never get any type of run going on 20 meters, so I stuck to S&P
there. On 40 & 80, that was a different story, and I had a good time
running stations, although I did do some S7P when things slowed down.
There was a bit of a storm in the Ohio area, and I was hearing some static
crashes on 80, but nothing too severe!

The low bands were really noisy early in the evening. Had I known that the low
bands would get quieter around midnight, I would have taken a break early and
saved some time. Instead I ran out of time when the low bands were less noisy.
A rookie mistake for sure. Fortunately, I followed Dave’s advice and jumped on
10 and 15 meters at the start and picked up some needed multipliers. Also,
tuned my home antenna for 160 meters and added some more multipliers.
