Re: [BVARC] Major Event - Looking for Volunteers to Man BVARC/Ham Radio Booth - May 26th-28th, 2023

2023-05-03 Thread Chris Medlin via BVARC
The way to pull the younger folks into the hobby is to have some of the younger
hams in this booth promoting the hobby. A bunch of us old guys could sit in
there but the way to get the younger generation is to show them where the value
is by people who are like them sho can relate to where they are. I dont know
what our roster looks like for those under 40, but I would hope we could get
some of our younger members to step up.

The Innovation Lab at Comicpalooza will held at the George R Brown Convention
Center over three days and will attract between 60,000 and 80,000 attendees.
This event, which BVARC has been involved with in the

past, is one of the most significant events in Houston for Robotics Displays.
There will also be speakers covering area of STEAM (science, technology,
engineering, the arts, and mathematics) that includes AI, ML,

Advanced Robotics, Creativity, Innovation as well as other areas of topics that
encourage greater engagement and increase interest in STEAM activities.

BVARC has been invited to exhibit at this event as we have in the past. What
would be different this year is the antenna trailer which can be set-up inside
the George R Brown. It may not work very well for HF but it will

turn a few heads being displayed.

If you make it to the show, you might even see William Shatner of Star Trek!

Everyone at the club keeps talking about attracting younger members to the club
and the hobby. So coming up on May 26th through the 28th, you can now get your
chance to step forward and get involved to bring in the
new generation of hams.

The Innovation Lab at Comicpalooza will held at the George R Brown Convention
Center over three days and will attract between 60,000 and 80,000 attendees.
This event, which BVARC has been involved with in the
