Re: [BVARC] Fw: Cross Roads Repeater System

2024-01-21 Thread wb5itt via BVARC
But as I mentioned earlier, it's not a repeater! It's a half duplex base
station operating on a repeater pair.. It does not repeat locally and, if it's
transmitter is keyed up, the receiver is not hearing anybody and does not allow
you to talk back down the link until the transmitter has dropped off the air. I
was told by the coordinator it's supposed to be at 40 ft in Nederland... It
originally showed up on 147.36 but was intermoding the 146.76 in downtown
Beaumont so It was changed to 146.72. It originally was on 147.58
simplex...Chris WB5ITT Sent via my Samsung Galaxy S10e, an AT&T 5G Evolution

Maybe the Port Arthur 440 machine is now 146.72?

I wish they'd fix the 440 repeater in Port Arthur... It's got more transmit
range than receive range. There's also a 146.72 half duplex base station
operating on a repeater split in Nederland supposedly, that's linked in but not
on their map.
It's causing a lot of concern to users in the Beaumont Port Arthur area that
try to listen to Lake Charles 10 kilohertz off on 146.73. It's not a true
repeater because it doesn't repeat the local users transmitting on 146.12.
All their linking is done via All-Star..

Please check out the Cross Roads Repeater System sponsored by the Cross Roads
Ham Radio Club.    There a currently 13 linked repeaters along the coast
providing coverage
from Beaumont to Corpus Christie.   This system can provide good wide coverage
for emergency communications and I would recommend all ARES members to become
familiar with it.    The linked repeaters closest to Fort Bend County are:

Sugar Land   147.24   pl 127.3

Katy               444.55   pl 103.5

A complete list of the linked repeaters along with additional information about
the Cross Roads Ham Radio Club can be found

at

There is also a weekly net each Thursday at 8:00pm.

Membership in the club is FREE and I recommend everyone to join.  Members
receive a weekly newsletter with the latest system information.

International rate is $1.50 so International forever are a good
investment. Lol. Just think, a first class stamp was 3 cents for almost
100 years.

A great reason to stockpile Forever stamps. Pay now, save later. I have a bunch
of 35 and 37 cent stamps that ive been doubling up for occasional mailings,
until I run out then I guess I’ll be buying a roll of forever stamps.
