Re: [Cairo-dock-team] [Bug 443343] Re: alltray doesn't play nice

2009-10-06 Thread fab fab
please use the latest version of Cairo-Dock (if not already the case), and
run it inside a terminal (without debug, just type cairo-dock)
then make the bug occur; you should see some sentence in the terminal.
It's a case I've handled recently but it's deactivated by default because I
was not sure.
Thanks for your help.

 Hello Micon Frink,

Can you give us more details :
You can report bugs in launchpad using the 'Bugs' tab. If possible :
  * Read our wiki : specially the 'Recurrent Problems' section :
 http://www.cairo-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=Recurrents%20problemslang=en(which
can help you to resolve some bug like a black background, messages at
 startup, etc.)
  * If it's not a recurrent problem :
+ Include the cairo-dock version given by cairo-dock -v
but try to have the last stable release (version 2) by using our
 repository or our ppa.
+ If you are :
  - On Ubuntu Karmic or more recent, you can launch apport to collect
 all informations needed :
ubuntu-bug cairo-dock
  - if not, please include also some informations like your
distribution (Ubuntu 9.10 32bits, Debian lenny 64bits,...), your Desktop
Manager (Gnome, KDE, XFCE,...) your Window Manager (Compiz, Metacity, Kwin,
etc.), if you use Cairo-Dock with or without OpenGL, with which theme, etc.
+ Include the method to reproduce the bug (which actions, which options
 activated)
+ If it's a crach bug, run the dock with the command
   cairo-dock -l debug debug.txt
reproduce the bug and join the content of debug.txt.

Hello,

I'm part of the Cairo-Dock team. Cairo-Dock is a dock using Cairo/OpenGL
backend. It needs a composite support and it works almost well with Metacity.
There is just one problem : some flashes appear (often) and the dock is moved
quickly when the window used by Cairo-Dock is resized. In fact Cairo-Dock
resizes its window when the dock is active.
Can you have a look to this screencast? http://videobin.org/+fx/if.html

It seems that it's an old bug but sorry for that, we have never report this bug
here. I have tested on Gnome 2.26 (Jaunty) and 2.28 (Karmic - just before my
other computer breaks down :/ ). Mutter is also affected by this bug
This bug is much present now because the resizing is more used.

This is a minor bug, version 2.1.0-alpha, ubuntu jaunty 64 bits.

Dragging an icon an then releasing that icon active the launcher associated
with that icon. it should append nothing because I WANT ONLY TO MOVE THAT ICON.

In summary, dragging an icon should disable the icon's action until the next
mouse down event.

EDIT: this bug does not realize every time. I suggest that when I 'll find the
exact way to reproduce that, I'll post it immediately. But this really exists !
It must be a small bug to find so if you have 15 mn :)

Bests !

Bug description:
Version 2.0.8, PPA ubuntu, jaunty.

Plug in Views with the views : default, 3D plan and curve.

When an icon in the dock is being closed, the icon slowly fade or resize to
become a null space (in function of the icon plugins that are selected). When
the icon is resizing to null, the dock is resizing to a smaller width to fit
the new space : good.

But when the icon HAS finally a null width, the dock move brutally to the left
to re-CENTER to its original position. It's not very pretty, and surprising for
the user.

A solution would be to move the dock on the left EACH TIME the icon that's
being closed is resized to a smaller width. At the end, the dock would already
be centered and there would be no brutal move.

Thanks in advance, good luck and continue the Job !

Cairo dock 2.0.8, Ubuntu ppa, Jauty under Compiz Fusion.

When using compiz, it's pretty to tell the window manager to open sub docks in
a different way that the main dock is opened (at the start of the GNOME session
!). It's not possible yet, because we can't difference the main docks and sub
docks. They should have the same classes (dock) but respectively names
cairo-dock-main and cairo-dock-sub or something like that. We could tell
compiz to bring different effects to opening/closing for them.

Thanks in advance.

With latest version of Cairo-Dock on bzr and empathy 2.27.92-1ubuntu1~ppa9.04+1
on Jaunty and Metacity the problem is now different !
In fact the window doesn't appear in the taskbar when it's closed (ok) but it
appears randomly when I click on the empathy icon in the systray (not ok).
