Re: CakePHP without CLI for the Bake console
I agree, you should develop locally and command line access is not needed remotely. However, it can really come in handy! There are tons of cheap hosting that allow shell access -- if yours doesn't, I suggest shopping around. I'd say always do the development locally and then upload. You won't need access to the command line remotely. CakePHP without CLI for the Bake console
Hello, I'm in the process of evaluating several PHP frameworks to start developing a new web application. One of the better candidates is of course CakePHP. What i'm wondering (and can't find the answer in Google) is if it can be used in cheaper shared hosting, because they don't have command line access. I'm telling (for example) about generating .po files, which documentation says "all you need to do is run the i18n console task". Does CakePHP have shortcuts for hostings without command line access? Another alternative would be to develop in a local environment (with command line) and then uploading it to the CLI-less hosting. Is that feasible, or am I going to need the console once it's up? Thanks a lot, Luis Miguel Check out the new CakePHP Questions site http://cakeqs.org and help others with their CakePHP related questions.
