[Carbon-dev] Multi tenanting Qpid component registry access.

2011-06-27 Thread Amila Suriarachchi
hi,

Currently above functionality is not working since Qpid compoent
RegistryClient always get the supper tenant registry.

eg UserRegistry registry = registryService.getGovernanceSystemRegistry();
(RegistryClient.java 110)

We can simply fix this by passing the tenant ID which can be found from the
tenant domain available with the user name.

But for deleteQueue and deleteSubscription there is no user associated.
These methods are called when closing subscribers, consumers etc ...

So any Idea of fixing this for above case ?

thanks,
Amila.

Code review notes,

Apart from crucible notes we discussed about following.

1. Describe configuration properties in user-mgt.xml
2. Group configuration elements in user-mgt.xml
3. Re-factor property names in user-mgt.xml in more sensible way
4. Search for embedded Java interfaces within apacheds
5. Write comments for initialize methods
6. Rename ApacheDSUserStoreManager to ReadWriteLDAPUserStoreManager

Thanks

[Carbon-dev] Starting 2 carbon products with embedded LDAP enabled

2011-06-27 Thread Amila Jayasekara
Hi All,

We have following behaviour within carbon products.

Say we need to start 2 carbon servers in the same machine. Both
servers use embedded LDAP server. User forgets to change LDAP server
port in user-mgt.xml configuration for second server.
Still user will be able to start 2nd server with few error messages in
the console. Error messages are due to LDAP address already used by
first carbon server. The second server still, starts because user
manager is able to connect to first carbon server's embedded LDAP
server.

After a chat with Saminda and Milinda, we realised that this could
lead to erroneous situations as user is under the impression that
second carbon server is connected to embedded-ldap server running
within second server.

One way to resolve this issue is to stop starting carbon server if
embedded-ldap server cannot start successfully.
Are there any other better solutions to get rid of this behaviour ?

Feedback appreciated.

Thanks
AmilaJ

IMO if the server is not behaving according to the given configurations
(specially with configurations related to security), it should fail
with meaningful logs. This could be handled at the OSGi component level.

[Carbon-dev] Version of services' poms should be 1.5.1?

2011-06-27 Thread Amila Maha Arachchi
Hi all,

I created 3.2.1 branches for some stratos components and then I had to
change the respective versions in
manager/1.5.1/modules/features/org.wso2.stratos.manager.server.feature and
ui.feature. There I found out their versions are still 1.1.0. This should be
1.5.1. Azeez too confirmed this in an offline chat.

When I had a look at appserver's service poms also I observed this.

I am confused over these version numbers. Can somebody provide clear
instructions on this.

If the correct version is 1.5.1, each and every service has to make this
change.

Thanks,
AmilaM.

Re: [Carbon-dev] [Stratos-dev] Version of services' poms should be 1.5.1?

2011-06-27 Thread Muhammed Shariq
If an artifact hasn't changed then the version should be 1.1.0 for stratos
components. Only if we are branching after 3.2.0, then the version should
3.2.1 and 1.5.1 for stratos. So its not wrong to have 1.1.0 artifacts IMO
... in fact the unchanged artifacts should be referred to as 1.1.0 ?

Yes, only if something changes we will introduce new versions. Otherwise, we
will stick with old versions for components, features etc.

Versioning for components and features are clear.

But, what about the manager/1.5.1/modules/features. For example
org.wso2.manager.server.feature

At the moment we dont have a versioned folder such as 3.2.0 or 3.2.1 as in
components or features. What if we do changes in them? How should we
proceed?

Add these to the Crucible general notes as well. One issue with this new
features is, it is very difficult to troubleshoot when there is a config
error. It generally indicates poor error handling & handling of
special/default values of params.

[Carbon-dev] Wrong implementation UserStoreManager - addRole method

2011-06-27 Thread Amila Suriarachchi
Add role method has implemented like this,

public void addRole(String roleName, String[] userList,
org.wso2.carbon.user.api.Permission[] permissions)
throws org.wso2.carbon.user.api.UserStoreException {
addRole(roleName, userList, (Permission[]) permissions);

}

in org.wso2.carbon.user.core.ldap.LDAPUserStoreManager.java.

but org.wso2.carbon.user.core.Permission class extends the
org.wso2.carbon.user.api.Permission

public class Permission extends org.wso2.carbon.user.api.Permission {

So it cast down the inheritance hierarchy.

thanks,
Amila.

Re: [Carbon-dev] Multi tenanting Qpid component registry access.

Hi Amila,

If you are using the OSGi service, you need to pass the tenant id as a
parameter. Anyway why do you need to use the OSGi service? You can get an
instance of the registry from the CarbonContext right?

Thanks,
Senaka.

[Carbon-dev] Getting an unusual error when creating a tenant in my local Stratos setup

2011-06-27 Thread Nirodha Pramod
Hi,

I have setup Stratos locally to run DSS (with the products Stratos Manager
1.5.1, IS 1.5.1, BAM 1.5.1, Governance 1.5.1, DSS 1.5.1). The setting up was
successful but when creating a new tenant I get following errors in Stratos
Manager. So I can't proceed and need some help on this.

yes. The question I have put is how to get the tenant id when the connection
is closed since there is no user associated.

This is within the Qpid Authorization plugin. This code actually run withing
Qpid server. so within the Qpid server there is no way to get the carbon
context.

Think like this,

A jms client connect to Qpid server as am...@amila.com and password
amila123.

The only way to get the tenant id is using tenant domain pass with the user
name.

thanks,
Amila.

I see. There are some utilities in User Core which can be used to find the
tenant id using the tenant domain.

[Carbon-dev] securing of admin services (was: Fwd: [esb-java-user] How to subscribe/unsubscribe to a topic using WS call in WSO2ESB 4.0.0)

2011-06-27 Thread Sanjiva Weerawarana
The mail below shows one major defect: we are not eating our own dogfood:
Step 3 (login to the server via the auth service) should not be needed!
Instead we should be protecting the ws-e service with whatever stuff needed!

yes. This sample comes with some already generated stubs for ws-event API
and authentication. If some one wants to connect to this service through C++
he can do the following.

1. Generate the code for ws-event API. we use the wsdl stored here[1].
2. Generate the code for Authentication admin[2].
3. Login to the carbon server using the generated code in step 2.
WSO2 carbon keeps the user login details in the http session. Therefore you
need to pass the session cookie to invoke the real service. Please see[3]
for more details.

4. set the session cookie and invoke the event broker service with the
generated code in [1]

thanks,
Amila.

Yes, my fix solved the issue where members join, and we immediately try to
send the message to it. However, while a message is being received, a member
can crash (leave the cluster). In such a case, we cannot failover in all
cases. What we have done is, check the Synapse error code, and then decide
whether we can failover or not. For example, for CONNECT_REFUSED &
CONNECT_TIMEOUT, we can failover since we have not yet started sending the
message out. However, for errors such as CONNECTION_TIMEOUT, SND_ERRO etc.
we cannot failover, since the stream has been already consumed.

[Carbon-dev] ApacheDS as default user store of core ?

2011-06-27 Thread Amila Jayasekara
Hi All,

It seems that lot of members were under the impression that embedded
LDAP server is not binding an address. Thus most of the people are
under the impression that it behaves like H2. But this is not the
case.

We (me, Shankar, Amila and Azeez) had a discussion about this.
As per our current implementation we have LDAP servers embedded in all
products. Also it seems having LDAP servers in all products is not
architecturally sound.

Thus apacheds has a way of by passing the network layer and using just
like H2. For this we need to write a new user store manager. But IMO
we are not going to gain much from implementing a user store manager
which uses only apacheds (By passing network layer). Instead we could
use H2.

So the conclusion was to use apacheds only within Identity Server and
make it an optional feature for other products. Other products will
use H2 as it was used to be.

Please let us know what you all think about this conclusion.

Feedback appreciated.

Thanks
AmilaJ
