Thanks Benjamin.

iWave did offer this when I spoke to them -- good to know you're using
their stuff successfully.

Cheers!

Re: [casper] AD9207 FMC board

2022-01-10 Thread Jack Hickish
Hi Ross,

Thanks for the link. ADI's AD9207 page just links this as a development FMC
ADC --
https://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/eval-ad9082.html#eb-overview
-- which is a similar but different part. Even so, that might be a
direction that prototyping goes.

As for the RFSoC tradeoff -- potentially we can do things cheaper with a
discrete ADC/FPGA combo, depending on the cost of parts and how many ADCs
per FPGA we can do. The DSP/memory resources per analog channel is also
likely to be quite a bit higher, which might be important. Also the RFSoC
only really makes cost-effective sense for applications where we can
digitize multiple analog streams in a single location. For digitizing at
the feed, with a pair (dual-pol) of analog inputs, probably something else
is better suited.

Thanks again,

Jack

Hi Jack,

We are using that board from iWavesystems for a 5G radio.

iWaveSystems are the best to do the design for the base board for you, they
offer that service.

Re: [casper] AD9207 FMC board

2022-01-10 Thread 'Ross Martin' via casper@lists.berkeley.edu
Hi Jack,

I notice that on this board from Analog Devices with FMC+, the AD9207 is
listed as a compatible part. So there must be something from Analog
Devices that connects them? Maybe you can pursue that through their
sales/support.

https://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/ads9-v2ebz.html#eb-overview

I'm curious why you're looking into this; it seems the Xilinx RFSoC's have
similar specs. Is it because this is lower cost that the RFSoCs?

Regards,

Ross

[casper] AD9207 FMC board

2022-01-10 Thread Jack Hickish
Hi CASPER,

On the off chance someone knows of one / has designed one for their own
use; is anyone aware of an Analog Devices AD9207 FMC+ board? I'm interested
in using such a board with this ZU11 platform --
https://www.iwavesystems.com/product/zu19-zu17-zu11-zynq-ultrascale-mpsocsom/

Relatedly, I'm interested in hearing from anyone who would be interested in
developing such a board under contract.

Details of any pre-existing experience of iWave products much appreciated.

Cheers
