Re: [Catalyst] New design

2013-07-25 Thread John Napiorkowski
Mark,

Thanks for sharing this and for spearheading the effort!

I think its a nice design, although as a few others mentioned perhaps it would
be idea to not have the astronauts dancing, as that might step on the Dancer
people toes a bit.

My bigger concern for the website is overall long term management of it and its
content.  I've given this a lot of thought over the past year and not come up
with a great solution, other than to say it would like be bette to have a
smaller site overall, and just link to github and the main metacpan docs, and
maybe a list of aggregated blogs, rather than a big central website.  I just
don't think we have the contribution level necessary for it (the current site
was put together when the overall involvement was higher).

I'd prefer a clean looking, smaller site but with up to date info and some
ability to keep it freshened up.  I know when I am interested in a new project
and go to the website I want stuff like 'what its for" which a clear use case
for the problem its solving, links to the repo and news blogs so I can be sure
there's actually people working on it and the project isn't dead.  I think
that's about the extent of my thinking on it, and I personally don't have time
to make any of that happen :(

John
