Hi all,

This conversation about New Mexico birding reminded me about a list of favorite
U.S. birding destinations compiled by Lab of O folks that used to link off one
of the Lab websites (it was either All About Birds or the main Lab website; I
can’t remember which).  The link was labeled “Where to go birding” or something
along those lines.  Maybe it still exists, but I can’t seem to find it.  The
list was broken down by state and included Bosque del Apache NWR.  I recall
that Marie Read contributed that destination and mentioned photographing
Sandhill Cranes there.  This resource is also where I discovered another
birding gem, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Florida.  I recall that Wesley
Hochachka contributed that one.

Anyway, this was a wonderful resource for learning about birding hotspots
throughout the country.  Do any Lab of O folks know if this list is still
available?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Karin.  Before moving to western NY seven years ago, I lived in and birded
New Mexico for some 30 years.  Places to recommend depend greatly on what time
of year you plan on going, and what parts of the state are of interest (it's a
big state).  Some spots like Bosque del Apache NWR, Bitter Lake NWR, and
Rattlesnake Springs in Carlsbad Caverns NP are always good, as are numerous
others.  The 3rd edition of the NM Bird Finding Guide (2002) is available from
the NM Ornithological Society.  4th edition should go to press this month.
Feel free to contact me off-line if you wish.

RE: [cayugabirds-l] Lab of O documentary?

2017-01-31 Thread Jackie
I would simply like to add that this is one of the best movies I have seen!  It will not disappoint.JackieSent from my Verizon 4G LTE DroidOn Jan 31, 2017 12:35 PM, "Sandra J. Kisner" wrote:

Are you thinking of “The Eagle Huntress”?  That’s at Cornell Saturday at 2:00 and Sunday at 4:30, but it’s not about or by the Lab of O.  I don’t see anything
at Cinemapolis or the mall that seems to fit the bill.
